We’ve been going to Tomo at least twice a month since April. The sushi is awesome however the service is absolutely terrible and has gotten worse with each visit. We’ve dealt with the bad service because this is the only place we’ve found with decent sushi without going to Reno to our #1 place. EVERY single time it has either taken over 30 minutes to get our appetizer (edamame) or we’ve never gotten it. Tonight we were one of three tables and arrived toward the beginning of dinner service we immediately ordered edamame and one order of mussels. About 10 minutes later another couple comes in and orders 10 orders of mussels. 10 minutes after that (at least 20 minutes after we ordered) the couple that arrived after us starts receiving mussels along with two other tables that arrived much later. We brought it to the attention of the wait staff after waiting 25+ minutes and seeing other tables repeatedly getting mussels before us. It took another 5 minutes to get our appetizers. We started getting rolls before the appetizers then after 4 rolls they inform us that they just brought out the last roll. They did not bring out any of the 5 things that I ordered. After informing them of the things we were missing they brought out my plate of nigiri with one I ordered missing and another one that I did not order. I said I would keep it buyer I wanted the one I ordered. The waitress then says that the cook is making it anyways as if I didn’t want what I ordered. We went to dinner tonight with very low expectations for the service and left extremely irritated. I am not sure that we will return to Tomo after this due to the terrible service. If this were a once in a while thing that would be different but it is every single...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I are regular customers at Tomos. We visit at least once a week, and always sit at the bar. Our waiting service has never been anything special. Weve always had to ask for refills, and ask for straws, and we would even have to flag our waitress down for our check EVERY TIME. Usually this is overlooked by the exceptionally fast sushi chefs and quality of food, but last night was by far the worse service I've ever had at any restaurant. We waited an hour for our first round of rolls, and had to be repeatedly asked which rolls we ordered because the sushi chefs "forgot our rolls" We were brought the wrong rolls multiple times, even after they've asked to repeat our order to them, appetizers took 40+ minutes to make it's way to our table, and we has to ask each time for somebody to take our order paper because the wait staff was practically ignoring our table. My girlfriend and I usually spend 30 minutes there on average, and last night we spent well over and hour and a half there, because of how awful the wait staff is. The food and sushi chefs did a great job like always, but last night was by far the worst service I've ever experienced. If you visit Tomos, sit at the bar. The chefs are extremely fast and friendly and they have no problem flagging down the servers when we need something or have a problem. (They are so use to having to tell the servers to bring refills and checks to customers, you can tell it's an...
Read moreSo where do I start... The location is awesome; there is pleny of parking spaces available and the view is great. There are no tables outside, but one wouldn't miss them either. Inside you can either sit at the bar or at a table that can comfortably fit up to 4 people per. There is music running and personally, I loved the playlist. It's not too quiet and not too loud. The employees are super nice and focused and they regularly come by to make sure that nothing is amiss. The kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant and there are always multiple cooks doing their job. What's really important: the whole place is super clean. It looks organized and well managed. They have a very pretty modern interior with wooden elements that puts up a nice atmosphere. The big wall on the left of the entrance pictures a biiig lake and instantly lifts your mood. About the food: They offer ALL YOU CAN EAT here with a very fair rule: anything that you can't manage to eat, you pay extra. Otherwise the prices are super affordable. It's about 25 bucks per adult, but even women with small stomachs easily reach this sum with their orders on the menu. The fish is fresh and the rice perfectly cooked. To make sure that this was not just a good day, I visited a second time. But again, the food was really impeccable and my partner agrees. This place is a must try, I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lake Tahoe or...
