During my recent 7-day stay at Marriott Carson City, I encountered an unsettling incident with the hotel manager, Joseph Pickett. On the day before my checkout, I noticed an additional credit card authorization alongside the initial one for the entire stay's amount. In an attempt to resolve this, I called the hotel and spoke to an individual who, regrettably, did not introduce himself. While explaining the situation with a tone of concern, the staff member responded in a dismissive and authoritative manner, implying that these were mere authorizations and advised me to resolve the matter with my credit card provider. Upon checking my account I noticed that was correct and told him I would review with my credit card and I thought that was the end of our conversation However, 3 minutes after our conversation ended, I received a call from the hotel, and this time He identified himself as the manager. He falsely accused me of yelling at him and hanging up in our previous conversation, something that I denied right away but He threatened to evict me from the hotel unless I said “ I am sorry”. Despite my attempts to clarify the miscommunication and assure him of my intention to resolve the issue peacefully, his demeanor remained belligerent and threatening.
Specifically, Mr. Joseph Pickett stated, "If you don't say I am sorry, I will kick you out of MY hotel," and continued to issue the same threat over and over even after I expressed regret over our initial interaction.
"In response to the manager's belligerent attitude, I maintained a calm demeanor and expressed my surprise at such behavior from a Marriott hotel manager. I also reminded him that I had previously mentioned my intention to verify the credit card authorizations. However, the manager responded sarcastically by asking, 'You don’t travel much, do you?' Feeling taken aback by his sarcastic tone, I concluded the conversation, making it clear that I considered the discussion concluded."
Following my departure from Carson City I reviewed on this blog / Google reviews at least one more comment about the rude behavior of this manager. For example , one similar review is from A. Camden
I also escalated this experience to Marriott's Customer Service / Consumer Affairs, where my concerns were met with genuine surprise and an official apology along with a case number. I cited the concerning pattern of conduct and raised to the customer affairs representative a pertinent question : if the manager deemed my tone inappropriate during our first conversation, why did he not address it civilly or suggest a more amicable approach? Instead, he opted for a confrontational manner
It's essential to note that my dissatisfaction solely pertains to the manager's behavior, not the hotel's facilities or services, which were otherwise...
Read moreI was staying here for business and upon checking in after a long travel day I am given a room. I always check underneath the mattress to check for debris or bedbugs. I discovered that there were red flakes underneath the matress. I went back to the front desk to request a different room. She assigned me a different room but this one reeked of cigarette smoke so back to the front desk I went. I was assigned a new room yet again this time I discovered a hair beret underneath the matress. Back to the front desk yet again. This time she ended up assigning me back to the first room that had the red flakes under the matress. By this time I was very tired and did not want to have to switch rooms again. I asked the lady at the front desk if someone could please clean underneath the matress and she told me due to covid that no one could enter the rooms and there was not any housekeeping going on. On my way out later I noticed there was a housekeeper working on another room. I informed her about the issue with the matress and told her I hadn't even unpacked yet and if it was possible to take care of the issue. She told me she would. Upon returning to my room I discovered that the issue still had not been taken care of. By this time I was tired of trying to take care of it and decided to just let it be. The coming Thursday I was sleeping due to working late with my business trip. I was awakened to a knock on the door and then suddenly the door swinging open. I heard it catch on the safety latch and figured that they would not enter the room after that happened. I then heard the door shut and reopen and this time enter the room. I heard them enter my bathroom and start moving around. I was still half asleep and not quite sure what to do since I was not dressed to exit my bed. I then heard her walk by my bed yell a profanity and leave the room. When I was ready to leave for work I went to the front desk to explain what had happened. There was no one there but someone from housekeeping and all she could tell me is that someone from maintenance could come and look at it and she could write down what happened. I had not heard anything from anyone a week later so I wrote an email to the director of sales to see if he could offer any assistance. I had not heard anything by late Saturday night and since I was leaving in the morning I decided to try to talk to someone again at the front desk. A very nice lady was there and I asked if she was a manager or if...
Read moreThe hotel was nice, we arrived at 9 PM and just drove from Ventura California.
I had my grandbabies with me 3 & 6 along with a friend.
We checked into our room gave the front desk my credit card, drivers license we were given the keys and off we went to our room.
We unpacked and went down to the pool which is open till 11 PM as well as the hot tub (very warm) 👍.
The pool was refreshing, after swimming we headed up to our room where we proceeded to undress from our wet swimsuits my girlfriend was in the bathroom taking a shower.
I was undressing in the common area of the room along with my granddaughter 6 and grandson 3 when a man and his son comes walking into our room.
I pull up my pants quickly and hide my granddaughter behind me. He closes the door as he apologizes for the intrusion.
I tell my granddaughter to get dress I finish pulling up my pants walk to the door and there is a family of 4 outside my door the father was telling me I was in there room, he was kind, yet proceeded to ask me "when did I check in" I told him over an hour ago.
When I call down to the front desk they don't have me registered and said they would need to call me back.
When they call me back they apologies and ask for my information again and offer me a breakfast.
Breakfast was very disappointing.
No continental breakfast is offer at this hotel.
A man and his family walk into my paid hotel room with my pants down and both my grand babies naked and I am offered an apology plus breakfast.
My room should have been complementary as the apology.
Did I sleep well, not really.
Did I have to explain to my 6 year old granddaughter she was safe and that no other person was going to walk in our room "yes"!, I shouldn't of had to.
A free breakfast wasn't what I was looking for that night, a safe secure place to lay my head for the night and for $189 I should of received that, but I didn't.
This was Tuesday the 25th of June, and the day before Monday June 24th in Ventura I had attended my oldest sister funeral, I wasn't in the best emotional state and this didn't help.
I would say please for future guest be careful and double check because you never know what someone is...
