July 2022: Still happy with the great service, good food, cold brews & cleanliness. Our server Isidro was very attentive & professional.
December 2020: What a great place! Three of us went to dine here because of the two out-of-towners in our group, one asked to go there as it "looked promising!"
Parking close to the door is at a premium on a Friday night but I did get one. Next time I'll head to the middle of the center's lot & walk.
Upon our arrival, we were greeted immediately; it was approximately 7pm. Full of people, there were a few tables open. I was the only one who ordered a margarita on the rocks with top shelf tequila. It was very good. (I was able to successfully & discreetly tell the lovely & genuinely devoted to her job waitress that it was one of my friends' birthday.)
We ordered a seafood fajita, shrimp vegetarian enchilada & a beef & cheese burrito; all of which had rice or beans accompanying the entree. Best of all was a bowl of large, fresh guacamole, chips & by request, some of the hottest hot sauce the had. (Whew! Plan on sweating through that sauce!) We didn't care for the preparation of the guacamole as it was in small chunks of avocado, onions & cilanto. Had we have known, we would have requested the smooth & creamy guac that is easy in which to dip tortilla chips. Lastly, two of us ordered dessert & the birthday dessert came, complete with the entire waitstaff singing a happy birthday song in Spanish, clapping & hollering loudly. It embarrassed my friend but that's the point, right?!! My dessert was sopapilla which is usually accommodated with vanilla ice cream & instead they served it with dabs of whipped cream on the plate. I only recall one other dessert which had sopapilla with a cinnamon / honey poured over cinnamon, sweet fried corn chips with dabs of whipped cream. So, next time, I will order fried ice cream in hopes that it is more traditional to that of most Mexican restaurants . Overall, great food, generous portions (two of us took leftovers!,) friendly & helpful waitstaff, priced reasonably. The very, very worst was the (womens) restroom. It was dirty, dark & needed an overhaul. Yuck! At least there was enough paper to dry my hands but it was not pleasant in there. This restaurant is a MUST GO! And EAT, DRINK & BE MERRY!
UPDATE: Ate here again, June 17, 2021 & still wonderful, friendly service. We sat outdoors & it was wonderful. Most tables were in the shade which was perfect since it was hot out. I had lunch 2 corn tacos with (special request) grilled fish, black beans, cheese & I asked for avocado. The plate came loaded with the tacos, side dish of rice with queso & the avocado was sliced & on a separate plate. It was really wonderful & I took home the 2nd taco as one filled me up. My friend & I lingered for over an hour after eating & the waitstaff was in no hurry to have us leave. Very nice time, great...
Read moreFirst and LAST time to Los Argos in Cartersville today since the reopening. My aunt and I went there for a late lunch (2:30) Was not crowded at all. My aunt ordered a Texas Margarita, and me a Coke . They brought us chips and salsa and our drinks. My aunt tasted her margarita and said it was horrible. She took another sip and said she just could not drink it. There was two ladies sitting beside us, and they also had margaritas. We asked them how they were and they said not very good and one of the ladies said that she just heard another lady in another booth. Send her’s back. So the waitress came, my aunt told her that she could not drink it, that it absolutely tasted like kerosene. She took the drink did not ask her if she wanted to remake it or if she wanted anything else. So we are eating chips and salsa waiting on our food they chips were cold, and the salsa tasted store-bought with big hunks of tomato and the core in it, and was so hot. We waited a while on our food, the ladies beside us got theirs first and come in a good bit after us. My aunt got veggie nachos and I got beef nachos. they both looked great but the vegetables and the nachos were very hard. I took about three bites of my beef nachos, and I noticed that the meat was just so soft, almost gooey like. I started looking at it and you could obviously tell it was not cooked all the way. We asked to see the manager and she came over ( she was also the one making the margaritas) I proceeded to tell her what was wrong and she got defensive and said that she personally checked the temperature of the meat this morning and it was done. She said that what I was seeing was salsa that they had mixed in with the meat to give it flavor. I tried showing the meat to her again. You could obviously tell that it was not cooked all the way, but she again repeated herself that it was done! I told her that I could not eat it. She acted like it made her mad. Neither one of us took over three bites of our food. But we still had to pay for the entire meal. We used to come here before the closing and it was great but not anymore. I was always taught in food service that the customer was always right, to listen to them. Was not trying to get something for nothing, we didn’t eat it. But we definitely paid for it. We left there and went to what I consider the best in Cartersville, El Charro! We were close to los Argos and thought we would give it a try since we hadn’t been there in so long, but it was...
Read moreEdit: After receiving the reply from owner, I decided to give them another shot. I called to speak with the owner like I was asked and they informed me I should call another time. I went ahead and placed a togo order so that I could report back and edit. Well, here's what happened: Placed a detailed order for pick up. Got there and I asked the guy if everything was in the bag and correct. He said yes. I get half way down the road before checking my food and realizing they charged me for something I ordered but didn't give it to me. I ordered a Nachos Supreme this time with no lettuce, no tomato, extra cheese and jalapeños. My order was incorrect and I had to go back inside to get it corrected. At this point, I'm frustrated and will not be back again and my rating stands. You would think that they would go out of their way to he sure that the order was correct. But, that was not the case. I explained to the man working up front that I had w bad experience with my food earlier this week and that the owner reached out to me and I decided to give it another shot. He acted as if he could care less. The is the closest one to my office, so that's frustrating to have to find somewhere else to go. I just expect my order to be correct, everything I order and pay for to be inside the bag, not to have to come back and have my order fixed, and not receive my food cold. It's not that hard.
Food has always been really good. However, today I ordered yet another togo order. My office is less than 1.6 miles from the restaurant. I placed my order, (beef and bean nachos with extra cheese)..arrived in less than 10 minutes (they said it would be ready in ten minutes) and I went straight back to my office. Food looked good and tasted good as always. However, if you place an order and have your food back at your desk, 13 minutes after placing your order, it should at the very least, be warm. Actually it felt chilly. "Chilly", as if some of the ingredients were being kept in the fridge and then heated as the order was placed, yet the food wasn't heated thoroughly. I can only hope that is the case. If not, this tells me that they are not keeping food or serving food at correct temperatures and that kinda freaks me out and this isn't something I...
