Tacos N Subs — Restaurant in Cartersville

I left this 5 star review 4 years ago. At the time I just left a rating with no comment, so I thought I'd elaborate. Since then, I moved my business downtown so I walk here to get lunch to-go regularly. It is very entertaining to read the 1 star reviews. I get it - it's old and not much money has been put into maintaining or upgrading the building. But, at the same time, the prices are amazing. Not many places you get FULL for under $10. As far as taste - this isn't a Mexican restaurant. They call it Tex-Mex, but keep in mind it is one man's idea of Tex-Mex that he started 50 years ago. I ate here in the 1980's - and it's the exact same space but the video game machines that were in the back are gone. Except for adding wings to the menu when the new owner took over years ago, you're able to get the same dishes made the same way as they were from Day 1. Personally, I think the flavors are amazing. I have never gotten sick in any way from eating here (and I've had a good 20+ day run of eating here everyday but Sundays - and only because they are closed Sundays). I've tried almost everything on the menu. They also have the best slaw dog I've had anywhere (steamed bun, beefy hot dog, and fresh made slaw). But if you've never been here before, there will be a learning curve. That's why there is a sticky binder with really old pictures of the dishes. That's why the owner spends at least 3/4 of his day explaining the ingredients in the dishes to newcomers. But give it a few chances, try a few different things over a few visits, and I think you'll find this too is one of your favorite Cartersville...

Currently at location. Order nachos before 7 p.m. and it is now 7:55"p.m. and still nothing. I tried to go up to the counter as ive watched with my own two eyes several people walk 8n place an order right then and receive their food and leave and im still here. She immediately gets defensive saying all those orders were call in even though they were not. Out of the 20 orders served yes most were call ins but 4 of those i watched place their orders when they walked in way after me and still served before me. So disappointing for a local fav. Update recieved for at 8:05 p.m. do over an hour and all three orders are covered in peppers which dont even come on the food i ordered nor did i order them to be put on my food. So far looks like the new owners are the worse thing to happen to this place as we never had a single issue like this when owned by the previous gentlemen who still owned it last time...

Let’s just say, so far the friendliest people in town. This was my 1st time coming and the lady at the front was so welcoming! I explained I never been there before but my friend had been and so she explained to me how it worked. She talked me through the specials and prices and all the options they had. My friend and I got the Mexican salad and it was DELICIOUS and my daughter got the grill cheese and fries. The “waitress” was a total sweetheart! They were all so sweet! I wished I had cash on me to leave a tip. So I’ll be leaving a double tip next time ;) I also felt very comfortable and like I was at home. I will definitely be back and will definitely be telling my friends and family about this place! I can’t say enough good things about this place.
