Incredibly disappointed with dinner last night. Visit Table 20 2-3 times each year for the last several years. Food was great, as usual, but service was really sad. Arrived at 4:30, no reservations, place was empty. First taken to table right up front, asked if we could get a booth. Told they were taken for reservations and when I asked when they would be filled, was vaguely told sometime within the hour. Turns out this person was the bartender and her attitude permeated the visit. Our server was great, very friendly. We place a bar order which included a glass of wine. Saw our server pick up the wine and could see and hear him question the pour. Bartender confirmed it was "the regular 4 oz pour". I have never been to a restaurant with such small wine pours and high prices at the same time. Based on regular size of wine bottle and the pricing, this means they are making $75 off of a $10-12 bottle. Our server brought the wine over and we told him we agreed the pour was short. He took it back and we could see the look of annoyance on the bartender's face. My mother ordered a plain burger, nothing on it. The burger was great but they brought out a side plate that had some cut onions and a slice of tomato with pepper on it. This was really odd since we specifically said and waiter put in the order that we didn't need anything on it (and even if this was left off, then where was the lettuce??). Fried cauliflower was awesome. Our burgers were awesome but took at least 20 minutes to be served and many other orders came out before ours. Our server could tell we were getting pretty annoyed, came by and apologized several times, we discussed wanting to talk to the manager (who seemed to spend all her time expediting all food but ours and never came out into the dining room to check on things). Our server offered to make things better by doing the next wine pour on his own which was much more reasonable. Later, another server stopped by with another round of wine/beer - except we had not ordered another round. We told her we were happy to take it but didn't want to be charged for it. She said she'd have to check, went back to the bar, and never heard from her again. So guess they just poured out that glass of wine?? When we again complained about the bartender and her attitude, his non-verbal response seemed to confirm she had issues. After food finally arrived, we asked for check and had to wait awhile for that too. I'm not sure if the place is understaffed (it didn't seem to be, plenty of servers around). Oh, and by the way, during our whole visit, there was one open booth (actually, a person who came in just ahead of us was moved into a booth since they needed to clear her table for the evening's entertainment - but that means that booth was never going to be filled with a reservation?!) Server asked again if we wanted to talk to the manager before we left but we decided it would be pointless as she seemed so over her head, not sure what would change. We won't be going back at this point,...
Read moreMy colleague and I came for a weeknight dinner after work and we did not have the best experience, to say the least. We walked in and were greeted right away by the cute young lad in the front then brought to our tables. The highlight of our experience is already over. We both ordered cocktails which were diluted, however they were busy and we didn’t want to make a fuss so we drank them, and then a couple more to try to accommodate for the weakness, aha (Wait, this could be a Restaurant strategy? Lol)
Our waiter, David seemed less than pleased to be serving us and we felt like we were bothering him every time HE came to our table. At first, I thought it was just me who noticed his behavior until my colleague pointed it out right after our first encounter, ordering drinks. Let’s call his demeanor cold, short and almost discriminative (Putting that out there for you to decide). That’s also a reason we chose not to complain about the drinks/food is because we already felt uncomfortable by the way we were treated. It reflects your business when you have employees who make certain customers feel uncomfortable, so we asked for our check after about 30 minutes. I still tipped 20% off a $130 Cheque only because I keep that rule as I was a server myself in the past - Not because the service was good, adequate or even appropriate to a customer.
Small food review- the agli e olio was super bland and the shrimp was fishy. Agli olio requires high quality ingredients as the list of ingredients are so few. By this dish, I could tell the kitchen cuts costs by using cheap, low quality ingredients. Which is surprising considering the price.
Overall, we found this restaurant overhyped and underwhelming.
Response to the owner:
Besides your tasteless comment, if you were the chef, I’d love to teach you a good agli e olio. First, use a better quality olive oil. You can taste it...
Read moreI dont have much bad to say about this place so i will start with that. We were sat at the booth closest to the bathroom( which was not a big deal you dont really notice the restrooms) what i hated and i mean hated was the booth its self. It was so uncomfortable. It was built like a Macdonald were it forces you foward and within ten minutes my back was hurting. Just very uncomfortable, beware of that booth dont know about the others but when i go back i will ask for a table.Other than that we really enjoyed this place. First they gave us house popcorn, never had that before. Instead of bread you get popcorn. I thought this was cool and unique. Only downside was it was a little stale. We started with the truffle fries. I could have just ate them all night. Incredible flavor. I got a half order of the fried chicken, it was great overall, a little uneven on the fry. The honey butter put on top was incredible. The mash potatoes were really good and the corn on the cob had great flavor. My wife got the surf and turf with a side of mushrooms. She was not a fan of the mushrooms. I hate mushrooms so I can't say much for them. I did try the steak and shrimp. The steak was cooked to perfection and was so flavourful. But guys... guys... the shrimp stole the whole show. It was so freaking good. It was seasoned perfectly and cooked perfectly. Honestly if I went back I would just get the fries and the shrimp. Everything was amazing but those two things were so amazing. The price was okay i did not leave feeling like I was ripped off. The staff was incredible and I really love that you could see the...
