Love this place
Sad to update my review to 2.5/ 3 stars. Custard still great, customer service has fallen off. I hope one bad apple doesn't ruin my experience forever, but for the time being a pause from Andy's for my family and I. We went on Mother's Day which also happened to be my daughter's bday! We had a car full of people and opted for drive-thru since the little ones were sleep. The young lady working that afternoon just couldn't be bothered with answering questions and taking so many orders (I guess). We did change one (1) of our orders mid transaction, but gesh, as soon as you place it, apparently they get started on that VERY order within milliseconds. When I made our correction she yells out to Keith or Kevin, the very understanding young man making our orders hold on Kevin. she then ok Kevin. Then I order a Cherry Smash but list out all the ingredients because I couldn't remember the name of the item. She yells again with a sigh "hold on again Kevin". I inform her I wasnt changing the order, I was adding to it. So she replies we don't have anything with those ingredients (I hesitate as I am a bit confused... I literally just read it from the menu: Cherry smash or something to that effect). She was indignant and seemed really unhappy to be at work. When I told her they do in fact have a menu item with the ingredients I listed off and what the name of the item is. her reply "ok". How about you learn your menu items since apparently you want the guest to know them backwards and forwards and hurry up with their orders. We wanted to go back the next day to try another custard but really didn't want the possibility of having to deal with this young lady again. She seriously needs customer relations/customer retention training...I mean that 'berry place isn't that far away. Hey Kevin/Keith thanks for hanging in there with our change and making the orders quickly...
Read moreNice place. Very clean, staff is nice and seems to know the menu pretty well. They are a quick service or fast food type dessert restaurant, similar to a Dairy Queen, but Andy's doesn't have any dinner options, they only offer dessert(s). They call their product a custard. Not to talk negatively about the product (it is pretty good), but it is basically an ice cream with egg yolks added to the mix before it is churned and frozen. The final product is tasty, but it coats the inside of your mouth and your tongue more than your normal standard soft serve ice cream would. It has more of a velvety feel and texture, rather than if only milk or milk-like substitute was used.
They have two basic flavors of "custard" (ice cream), which are vanilla and chocolate. Then they add different toppings, syrups and flavorings. This allows them to offer a large number of options for the customer to choose from, but not have to have 30 different flavors of ice cream. They have different products for sale you might expect such as malts, shakes, sundaes, splits, a concrete (similar to a blizzard at DQ), a freeze, old fashioned sodas, floats, Italian ice, and even a product called a jackhammer! They also have their product available for sale in pint and quart sizes, should you be interested.
Their entire menu is available on their website and they also have all nutrition information available on the website as well and it's available to download should someone be interested.
The custard is freshly made throughout the day, everyday. My family has been there a few times and it's pretty good and tasty. Not quite the same thing as ice cream, but definitely in the same category in our household. It's not something we want every day, but we do enjoy it and will...
Read moreI usually love this place. But tonight I do not. It was very clear that every one except the drive thru guy did not want to be at work tonight. At the drive thru the it is hard to read the menu from the passenger side. And since the ordering takes place at the window you have to memorize what you want (those who can read the menu) and there is no menu available at the order window. We ended up getting out and ordering at the walk up window. After making eye contact with everyone one working twice, a young teenage woman begrudgingly took our order. I told her what I wanted— a sprinkles jackhammer with butterscotch center. And a straw Ana sundae. Within seconds she handed my husband someone else’s mint chocolate shake and walked away leaving those of us customer to figure it out. Is it really ok that stranger were handling that woman’s shake? She proceeds to go behind the counter to chat with her friend. She comes back with my order, 3/4 of the cup filled and the core and concrete reversed. But given how annoyed she was to be working, I was definitely NOT asking for the correct order. My husbands sundae sat in the counter for a few minute while they continued to gossip. There was only one window open and 5 people working. Several family’s outside in various stages of order. When my husband was handed his order, she had no comment or acknowledgement, have a nice day, nothing. I have a hard time believing you want this lack of customer service to represent your business. Again, the afternoon staff I pnormally encounter is friendly and helpful. This Sunday night staff, rude, bothered to have to take my order and careless with those orders. Not sure I’ll be back. Why would I. Clearly Our presence was...
