Don't be fooled by the unassuming location of this hidden local gem. We've lived a few miles away for years and saw it in passing all the time, but never thought to check it out. Well, some of our friends recommended it to us, so now I'm passing on that good recommendation (and also quietly kicking myself for not trying it sooner!!). First of all, the entire staff is very welcoming and attentive, and the atmosphere is chill (love the chicken paintings and the music was excellent). Second, but really first, the FOOD!!! Holy cats, everything we had was absolutely delicious! The brie bites were out of this world, with 3 different saucing choices, they're like an elevated, light mozzarella stick, but SO much better! My wife had the pan-seared flounder and it literally meted on your mouth! I had the steak fries and the strip was cooked perfectly and the fries were crispy and delicious. Everything was so good, we pushed the envelope and got the key lime pie for dessert. Holy moly, it was a substantial slice and tasted absolutely heavenly. It was a great place to take my boo for an impromptu dinner date (I made the reservation online earlier in the day and it was super easy). We enjoyed the whole experience, our server David was awesome, and we will DEFINITELY be going back! 10/10, totally recommend!

I was in Cary, NC for two nights and was looking for a place to eat that was locally owned and had amazing food. On the first night, I found Chef's Palette and thought it was such a joy that I came back for my second night. Night one, I sat at the bar and had appetizers. The Italian sausage arancinni was amazing! Flavorful, crispy on the outside, moist and creamy on the inside. I also had the brie bites, which are little bites of creamy brie encased in pastry and served with a delightful honey almond spread, a flavorful fruit compote, and a red pepper jelly. It was outstanding, even later at my hotel when it was cool. The bartender was lovely and the wine was outstanding. Night two, I sat in the dining room. Ashley was my server and she was sweet, informative, and attentive without being intrusive. The kitchen was featuring red snapper and had a cool deal in which you could choose any of the set entrees and sub out snapper. I had the chicken francese and subbed out the chicken for snapper, what a great combo!! Pillowy gnocchi, a beautiful buerre blank and blackened red snapper. Brilliant!! My only complaint about Chef's Palette is that it is in Cary and not Charlotte, where I live! Second location!?!?

My wife and I ordered carry-out the other night. The fresh trout over risotto with beurre blanc sauce sounded delicious so we both decided upon it. We felt like splurging even more by ordering their cheese cake du jour that happened to be chocolate almond. The order process by phone was easy and simple and the host was cheerful and friendly. The time was set for us to pick it up and I looked forward to getting our order.

The female host came to my car after I arrived and confirmed my name and said the order would be ready in just a minute. True to her word the order was out to us in minutes. I paid and was off to get home with what we hoped would be an excellent meal.

Unfortunately, since the Covid shutdown period our experience with Chef's Palette hasn't been as good as we had recalled it prior, but this time the meal was particularly disappointing.

Portion size for a $27 meal was disappointing. The taste of the fish wasn't on par with what we had come to expect. The risotto tasted much more like simply sticky rice. The beurre blanc sauce was adequate but not particularly well executed. We both felt our dinners were extremely disappointing and thus this very, very bad review is being provided.

Oh, dessert was bad too. It was a 2 to 2 1/2" disc cheesecake that was too thin to offer us both much to savor. There was good flavor, moisture, but simply too little to justify the $7 or $8 charged.

For a meal that is $65 before tip, of course I tipped too, so the total was more, it was enough to say, "we won't be doing that again." Perhaps they are more of a nacho, burger, or simple fare type of place now. Nothing bad to report as to what these offerings have been...

Our party of seven had dinner there this past Saturday evening. It's not our first time dining there and won't be the last. I've personally enjoyed every meal I've had there to date. On this occasion, I had the pork chop. Perfectly prepared for my tastes, and it was delicious. It comes with a bacon sweet potato side, and while I'm usually not a fan of the yam, these were also delicious. Two in our party had the salmon dish, and one loved it, and one did not, because it was undercooked. I took a look, and yes, it was undercooked. So, he got sushi instead of salmon. I would have sent it back, but he didn't for whatever reason. His choice. Everyone else enjoyed their dinners. I think the other dishes enjoyed in our party were the Chicken Francese and the Shrimp & Grits. Our server, Nicole, (I think), was very nice and her service was very good. Thank you, Nicole!! No one opted for dessert. Upon leaving, a thunderstorm unleashed a torrent of rain, and whoever the guy was at the door, kudos to him, because he escorted everyone to their car with umbrellas in hand. That was very much appreciated by all, so a big thank you to him as well. All in all, a very enjoyable dinner. The dining room, for whatever reason, seemed loud to me on this visit. It will be interesting to see how it is on our next visit. I highly recommend...

Bummed. Really were looking forward to trying Chef’s Palette again. 1st time was better, not great either. On this trip we arrived with about 50% of the restaurant full so easy to get a table and seated on the bar side. Had to wait a bit for the waitress which was not a big deal. Limited beer selection, only bottles/cans. We each chose a beer. Mine came flat in a glass, generally that means the glass is dirty. Ordered the Pretzel Bites for an app - definitely skip it. It was closer to hush puppies w salt. The cheese dip w them was worse. Yuck. Meals were good/fine. Adobo Shrimp wrap was good. Burger was fine, nothing special. When meals were dropped we each asked for a water and I asked for another beer. Only one water made its way to the table during the entire meal. I tried to get her attention but no luck. Waitress never came back until we were done. As she picked up our plates she asked if we wanted anything else. At that time my wife said we I did not need the beer I ordered. At that she said sorry I’ll take that off the bill. What!?!?! You added to the bill but just did not bring the beverage?!? Oh and not the other water. Haha. As a several year previous service industry guy that busted, waited and bartended I give a lot of slack but also have high standards. This experience missed. Average food and bad...
