Went there last night with a group of 9 for a friends birthday. Made reservations, but still had to wait a considerable amount of time. The the food was pretty good, and I could mention the fact that our neighbors who were sat after us received their salads and soup before us. But what I want to address is after dining...
We left the restaurant until about 10:30pm. Arrived at my friends, before exiting her vehicle, I realized I did not have my wallet. I didn’t have my Togo box either which makes sense because I was 99% sure I put my wallet on my Togo box and as I put my jacket on to leave. We immediately went back to the restaurant, a 10 min drive. The doors were locked and no one could hear me knocking (nor did they answer). I repeatedly tried calling, no answer. I went around the back and knocked, and someone let me in. I went to the front and explained I believed I left my wallet. They said no one has found one, that they “have a lost and found” and it’s not there. I told them I sat at a “back table”. Someone there mentioned to the manager to check the cameras. He was ignored. I thought okay maybe it is in the car or something. I checked the car and the parking lot, no wallet. It was late I decided to go back tomorrow. At 12:30PM, I showed up explaining I did not go anywhere else and my wallet had to be there. I asked to have them check the cameras. They told me the cameras were live feed only and couldn’t be recorded. That didn’t seem right to me, so I called Cary police. They sent an officer down to liaison between me and the business. The officer talked to the owner on the phone. The officer just suggested the owner come down to the restaurant and show me the proof they only have live feed (that gets sent to the owners phone) for my peace of mind. The owner was uncooperative. Then he talked to what seemed to be the owners wife. I talked to her, explained my situation, and she asked to talk to the manager. The conversation then changed they weren’t sure if there was a camera facing where I sat. Only THEN was it offered to me to show them the exact table & chair I sat at. The owner said they will ask the manager to check with everyone who worked there that night. I left my name and number in case it showed up, got frustrated and left.
I live an hour and a half away. I was driving back home, at almost 4:40pm I get a Facebook message from a woman claiming she found my wallet “in the parking lot at my salon by the Japanese restaurant.” I thanked her and asked her to leave it at the restaurant as they know about it, and I will call my friend to go pick it up. I tried calling the restaurant over and over to tell them this and received no answer. I left a message.
At 6:40pm my friend calls me to tell me she’s at the restaurant. They made her wait 20 MINUTES until they gave her my wallet. The whole time she was waiting they were sitting patrons and side eyeing my friend. My friend started to get upset and kept asking them on why it is taking so long. Shouldn’t the wallet be in a safe place they are fully aware of and they’d be happy it was found? No, they wanted to speak to me because “the owner was upset I called the cops” and my wallet was not found IN the restaurant and you scared everyone”. I told them “this whole situation doesn’t make any sense. But at this point you are holding my personal property hostage and making my friend upset. Please give her my wallet so she can leave.” Finally they gave her the wallet. My wallet was completely dry, (it’s been raining for days) and “found” in a place I was no where near, outside. They were visibility upset with me, not very cooperative, and purposely gave my friend a hard time.
Needless to say I won’t be back and neither...
Read moreWe (my wife, my daughter, my son-in-law, and myself) went on Jan 31 and it was the third time I've been here.
Previous trips have been OK, not super, but acceptable. Good banter and entertainment from the chefs, OK wait staff keeping up with drinks, etc, OK pricing.
This time, though...
First thing, our waitress was initially very attentive, getting drink orders promptly and taking the food orders quickly. She put ice in my drink when I specifically asked for no ice, but no real problem.
Afterwards, though, we rarely saw her again.
And the chef....
I don't know if it was an off day for this guy, but I have never been less impressed with a teppanyaki chef than I was this day. He came out, and there was no big flame like they usually do. He had a fire on each end of the table, small, and that was it. No banter with the guests. No juggling or anything with spatulas. No egg tricks. Nothing. He then cut the onion and did the onion volcano trick briefly, THEN lit the fire on the volcano.
And that was the end of any entertainment. He did NOTHING else. No tossing vegetables to people. No sake. I mean NOTHING except cooking.
When he started, he asked the table if anyone was celebrating a birthday. My birthday had been the 29th, my SIL's on the 28th. We came here to celebrate since it was a Friday rather than going on Wednesday. We said "Yes" along with another person who was at the table. He acknowledged us, and then NEVER SAID A WORD ABOUT IT AGAIN. Did nothing for us, nothing. It was like "Who has birthdays? You guys? Cool thanks. See ya." Why even ask?
And pricing... I have had a gastric bypass. So has my wife. I had no problems bringing home leftovers, which we KNOW we'll have every time, but my wife didn't want to. And neither did my daughter. So they decided to share a meal. We're advised this is OK, but there's be a sharing fee. No problem, we said.
I got steak and chicken combo. So did my wife. And my SIL got steak and shrimp. These cost $39 each! And the sharing fee? Half that. So we still paid $140 for the meals. At that price, we may as well have just paid full price for a full 4th meal. Adding in drinks and we're at nearly $200 for this less-than-fun experience.
To top it off, no lie, we waited nearly a full 30 minutes after the meal was done for the waitress to bring our check.
In the meantime, throughout our entire time there, the table beside us came in later than us, got a full entertaining experience from their chef with all the usual tricks and banter and jokes, got their checks, and left about 15 mins before we could.
All in all, I'd avoid this place. Previous experiences were OK but not great, and this last experience just really turned all 4 of us off of ever eating here again. The food was good, but you go to these kinds of places for way more than the food, and we aren't getting that here, especially for the price that in other places is usually quite a bit lower for...
Read moreOver hyped, over priced, poor service, arrogant server and cheap ingredients.
A week ago we 6 member of my family looking for a fancy restaurant dinner. My wife’s friend suggested this Hibachi restaurant and I usually check Google review before go. Well since it’s 4 star review was thinking it would be good.
Well restaurant outlook is moderate neither fancy or bad. As expected they had those hibachi kitchen cum dining areas.
1st encounter with server is an old man who is so arrogant in his behavior you can not ask for any clarification or ask for suggestions on the menu. I don’t know how restaurant is run with such people at job who thinks customers had come to restaurant eating as if free.
Then we patiently waited for hibachi chef to come over. He was good and entertaining. But what he serve as food is of mediocre quality. Cheap ingredients used, vegetables means only zucchini squash, few slices of mashroom, 2-3 florets of broccoli!!! Chicken means 3 slices of frozen breast pieces and same with shrimps.
Then lots of rices…and they charge 27$/per order + $10/per if you are sharing.
What ever the food quality my family enjoyed the entertainment than the food.
Last thing is to see shocker the bill $256 bill. Which includes automatic gratuity of 20%.
We order some sushis which was mediocre and overly priced for the quality(there was no menu price, they can charge you what ever they want).
Considering overall experience I would never go again to this place or...
