Disorganized/lack of service, slow service, cold pies. Almost all the booths were full when we arrived but had emptied out by the time we left, so we were patient but the length of time it took to get our food out was silly. My friends and I arrived separately so two were seated first. When the rest arrived, there was no hostess at the front so we stood there for a while before we just saw our group and walked over by ourselves. It took about ten minutes before we got asked for our drink order, then another waitress came around to ask us for our drink order since she didn't realize someone already took it. They brought out one extra coffee and didn't remember who got what drinks (there were five of us). They never refilled any of our drinks the entire time, which made the coffee not worth it at all. We gave our food order another 10 minutes later. Over an hour after we arrived, we recieved our food (all american, eggs benedict, pancakes, and three slices of pie, so not like everyone ordered a large plate worth of food). The diner was cramped but the music was good. The food took so long to come out that we had to scarf down the food and get over half the plates put in to go boxes because we had planned 75 minutes for dinner (which was surprisingly not enough due to the slow service). They didn't have my first choice pie which was fine, so I ordered something else. The pie slices were small slices (disappointing for a $5 pie) and ICE COLD like they had been in the fridge, which was unpleasant and by the time we got out food I had long finished my coffee and just ate my pie. The least they could do is heat them up before serving. The sausage did not look good and the hashbrowns weren't crispy. The check was also wrong, they forgot to charge us for one of the coffees, thankfully nothing was added on extra otherwise we would have been even later. I did not like that they added the gratuity nor do I remember seeing that any notice on the menu that gratuitiy would be automatically added. It came out to be about 18% of the subtotal added on. The entire time the servers barely came around except to check on us right after the food came out. The servers were polite but the speed and organization left a lot to be desired. The bathrooms and diner were clean. I would not come back though because of the slow service and quality of the food for the price. The food and service at Waffle House is...
Read moreI was told the mangers name was James , so let me start by stating that if I could give it a 0 star I would, which is quite disappointing given that I used to speak fondly of this place. Unfortunately at 7pm on December 22nd 2020 that changed, the only reason I waited so long to write this is because I did not feel like ruining my holiday weekend. My family and I came in at 7 pm, we were seated and got our drinks within 10 min which was wonderful , we placed our orders by 7:15pm . Our waitress was a woman named Angie who from the start was not very friendly but I overlooked that in the beginning because 2020 has been hard on all of us. What I did not appreciate was waiting an hour to get our food with zero communication within that hour from our waitress ,on why it was taking so long. Might I add that we saw 3 other tables get their food before us, and 2 of the tables got there AFTER we did. Angie had walked by our table numerous times and had plenty of opportunities to inform us on why the food was taking so long, even if the order was placed late or maybe the cook messed up we would have been understanding if she would have communicated that to us. Finally around 8pm we asked Angie why it was taking so long she said it would be out soon and preceded to say sorry but it was obvious she didn’t care. So at 8:10 give or take a few minutes we FINALLY got our food. If that wasn’t bad enough she came by after we got our food and said verbatim, “Is the food okay are we all happy now that we got the food”. As if to imply that we were in the wrong for being frustrated. Overall it was a horrible experience and Angie is not someone I would want representing my restaurant, if I was the manger. I will add that she took off half the bill but to be frank, I feel it should have been free. So to the other customers just make sure you carve out a good 2 hours if you want food from The...
Read moreMy wife and I had high hopes when we decided to dine at The Shiny Diner for dinner, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of our expectations.
Upon arrival, we were promptly seated, but our excitement soon waned as we found ourselves waiting for an extended period before receiving any kind of service. Our interactions with the waitress were limited, which added to our overall disappointment.
I decided to try Ainsley’s Fried Chicken with deviled eggs and macaroni and cheese. Regrettably, the chicken was far from what I had hoped for. It was tough and tasted as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long or, even worse, fried twice. The deviled eggs lacked any seasoning, leaving them bland and unappetizing. To add to the disappointment, the macaroni and cheese appeared to be a basic boxed version, lacking the homemade touch and flavor I had anticipated.
The overall quality of the food left much to be desired, and it was evident that attention to detail and freshness were lacking in the preparation. Given the reputation we had heard about The Shiny Diner, we were disheartened by the lackluster meal we experienced.
I appreciate our server comping the milkshake to compensate for the delay, as mentioned by the business owner in the reply. However, no other issues from the visit were addressed, so it seems they may be reaching in their response.
While the ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, the subpar food and lack of attentive service significantly impacted our dining experience. We had hoped for a memorable evening, but unfortunately, our visit to The Shiny Diner left us disappointed and unlikely to return. We sincerely hope that the restaurant can address these issues and provide a more enjoyable experience for...
