Just left Hideout about an hour ago, and was very disappointed and slightly offended about my 1st visit. This is also the first review I’ve ever felt the need to write about a place, but to be honest I’m just so disappointed about the whole experience that something needs to be said. This a lengthy review but please read to the end. To be fair everything was great until our server walked up, never caught her name (she didn’t introduce herself to us, and by the end of the experience I just wanted to get out of there so I didn’t even bother to grab the receipt). We order our drinks a strawberry lemonade and a water, everything was good until she came back to take our order. Upon taking the order she was very rude, interrupting us twice. She asked what we wanted, I ordered a Porterhouse T-Bone Steak then she interrupted me and cut to my girlfriend asking what she wanted, she ordered a Philly Cheesesteak, and she was about to tell her she didn’t want bell peppers then she rudely interrupted again asking what kind of cheese and side then cut back to me asking me what I wanted again. I repeated my order to which she said that my steak was too big and that I’d have to cook it myself on that little searing stone. Which makes no sense to me considering they have grills back there to cook steaks but since my steak is too big I have to cook it on a searing stone that’s smaller than the steak itself. If I wanted to cook the steak myself I’d go to fry’s and buy steak from there. The whole reason to go out and pay $55 for a steak is to avoid having to cook the damn thing. By the way I don’t know if that’s the norm considering it’s my first time eating at hideout. Anyways, I order my sides some loaded smoked Mac and Cheese to where she rudely asks “loaded how?” I’m completely unaware there’s different ways to get them loaded, just thought it would come with bacon green onion and sour cream which is what I chose. After ordering my girlfriend and I were actually debating leaving because we both felt confused/uncomfortable/offended by the way she spoke to us. We decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and stayed (regretfully). So we get our food and by this point I’m a bit upset about having to cook a 24oz steak on about a 4x8 inch searing stone. Can’t forget to mention trying to cut this rare steak into small enough pieces to put on the stone with a dull steak knife and a rocky table. Having to destroy the meat near the bone as to try to not waste it and get my moneys worth out of it (wasted a bit to be honest). By the time I got done cooking my steak both my loaded Mac and cheese and French fries were room temperature. We ate in silence from how agitated we both were just trying to eat and get out. Halfway through our meal another couple sat down behind us and I hate to go out and say this lady was racist but judging her manners to the white couple behind us to her compared to how she treated my girlfriend and I (I’m Latino, my girlfriend is white) it most definitely felt that way. Again don’t want to pull no race card but just taking those interactions at face value just made it feel that way. I finished my steak and Mac and cheese and the fries were just too cold for me at that point so I just left them. The nicest the server was to us was when we were leaving asking if we were done to which I said yes and she promptly brought the check. I promptly gave her my card because I just wanted out. I still left a $10 tip because I used to work in food service and vowed to never leave without giving a tip. Wish I had it in me to not leave one but that’s just not who I am. We both left in sour moods I also had to wash the blood off my hands from the rare steak I had to attempt to cut and cook. Still want to give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt and try again but definitely getting...
Read moreThis is was my first time dining here and I recently moved to the area late last year. I would not eat here again and would not recommend it.
Ate here on Juneteenth. Not only did the server neglect to let us know that if you order the Fish & Chips, you have to specify you want the CHIPS and Coleslaw as your 2 sides but there was a hair in my peach cobbler and instead of comping it like a normal person would do for the disgustingness of it, she offered to replace it with another cobbler or a different dessert.
When I ordered my fish and chips, Tina asked me what sides I wanted and I let her know I wanted to do a baked potato and French onion soup. Since she neglected to ask if I wanted fries and coleslaw or to sub out the sides, I assumed I would be getting that “meal” ans stated on the menu (which literally says Fish & Chips plus two sides) alongside the additional two sides. So, I hope you can imagine my surprise when I was given two little pieces of breaded cod alongside my baked potato. Maybe change your menu to say “Breaded Cod & Tartar sauce PLUS two sides of your choice” instead of making me assume I’m getting the full entree as listed plus sides as it currently states. Or train your server to make that explanation for you.
Then, when I asked about it she asked me if I wanted to PAY extra for fries that she didn’t tell me I was subbing out. I said no and opted to remove tip instead because why would you ask me that..?
After all of that, they gave my mother a peach cobbler with a two to three inch strand of hair in it. It wasn’t even hidden, it was just straight up on the side of the dish embedded in the glaze. Instead of offering to comp their hairy desert AS WELL AS a replacement she offered to give us another cobbler or a different dessert. We did end up just subbing for an additional cheesecake on top of mine but the fact that a third option of removing the dessert off the bill wasn’t also presented is completely insane. Don’t eat here unless you like servers that don’t properly explain how the menu works since the menu itself doesn’t OR if you like long black hair in your desert. The food itself was good except for the French onion soup which was too heavy for me, and they charge you an extra $3 for cheese on your baked potato. Also, for my coconut shrimp appetizer they gave us an odd number and I also thought that was weird because generally people SHARE appetizers so I would’ve expected an even amount. Just weird service all around, wish I would’ve gone to Texas Roadhouse instead but I had a movie to see afterwards which is probably the only thing keeping this place operating. Texas Roadhouse already gets tons of business - if it were there instead of this place I’d imagine they’d be flowing in cash because they actually serve good food. Then I could’ve gotten some quality bread on the side, too, instead of tiny pieces of white bread premade and not even warm. And actually got $60 worth of food with no hair. Tina herself was nice as a person but if she had properly explained that by getting the other two sides I was forgoing the chips to my fish and chips I would’ve just ordered the fries instead. Or maybe comped my hairy dessert I would’ve felt better about spending the rest of my $60.
Not really what I would expect for a place where the meals are about $25-30 per person when the place wasn’t even packed. I only saw maybe 5 other tables near me, maybe a few others (like 3 or 4) on the other side of the store. If they’re serving hairy food and not properly explaining the menu inconsistencies and they’re not even busy I can’t imagine what stuff falls in their food and makes its way into patrons mouths in a full...
Read moreI have been to the hideout twice now. The first time I had chicken, the barbecue sauce was good but I was not a fan of the chicken. And just to be fair, I've never really been a fan of "BBQ" meat that was cooked without any type of seasoning or anything like that. So I figured I'd try it because I haven't had something like that in 20 or 30 years. The meat was better with barbecue sauce but for me it's just never been a preference. It's not really a negative mark against the restaurant. It's just one of my personal preferences. My wife enjoyed her food. I can't remember what she had. My server her name was Kim or Kimberly. She was five star service. My wife ordered something that was not available and she instantly recommended a substitute which was very good. Excellent choice but she was five star server. In all the first visit was good, I should add that first visit was dinner. The second time my wife and I went it was during lunch and I ordered a chicken pecan salad or something like that which was fabulous. It was really good again. My wife and I got the pulled pork nachos which is really a favorite. Whatever my wife ordered she liked it so it's simple. I would just continue to not get meat cooked. However they cook it for barbecue. I just I don't like it that way. I'll never do that again. That was my fault. They have a really nice system for seating people when they're busy. They have a system where they take your phone number and it sends you text messages so you can wait outside or walk around and then you'll receive a text message when your table is ready. That's excellent. All the servers are really good. They know what they're doing. The last time I was there I noticed that they have a bar so if I wanted to beverage I could have ordered that. It's always good to know. They had a sign on the door when you're leaving the building that says something like if you enjoyed the meal, tell everybody you know. If you did not enjoy the meal call, Todd and I had his phone number on the door. I really appreciate that because that means that the owner is engaged, They have plenty of things on the menu that we will enjoy. The next couple times we go there. About the atmosphere, The floors are concrete. The walls are either glass or drywall and the ceiling is a high open ceiling so it's noisy inside the room. So when it's full it's noisy clattering banging dishes. The kitchen noises enters the room. It's noisy, but it's a country steakhouse barbecue type environment and that's basically the norm. It's nothing wrong with it, just don't expect it to be quiet and romantic. Yes I will go again and I will recommend it to friends. They did have some nice woodwork on some of the countertops I set at what looked like a blonde maple table. It would work with beautiful. They had some custom wood pony wall tops that were like a...
