I have little experience with Indian and Himalayan restaurants, as there are none in Western North Dakota I am aware of. I have cooked Indian recipes, and adore Indian spices, both single, and mixes. So I was delighted to discover Himalayan Indian Cuisine in Casper, Wyoming, while passing through the state. The menu is extensive, so it was a bit difficult to choose what to enjoy that evening, only because I wanted so many of them! I settled on the Lamb Biryani, while my brother chose a very tasty Lamb Saag. Both were accompanied with their Naan platter, with Plain Naan, Cheese Naan, and an exquisite Garlic Naan. I was impressed when asked my "Spice Heat Level" on a scale of 1 to 10. I chose level 4, (as a guess, as I had never been asked that before!). I have an adventurous palate, but know to be careful with new cuisines, and the obvious freshness of their spices. I could smell them in the air when I walked in the dining room. We both choose well, as we shared our choices, and stuffed ourselves silly on these Amazingly Flavorful examples of India's centuries of gastronomic exploration. No wonder the world has cherished the spices of India for centuries! Obviously, This restaurant takes this cuisine very seriously, so is well worth several visits! I am just an amateur critic, so didn't even think to take pictures, couldn't wait to taste the food. Sorry, you'll have to try it yourself. You'll probably forget about camera, too, once the tastes and smells confront an...
Read moreI really wanted to like this restaurant, especially after the good reviews I saw. We ordered quite a few items to ensure leftovers, and I am sad to report that we did not get even close to what we ordered.
Our order consisted of Vegetable Momo, Lamb Samosa, Tandoori Chicken, Nepali Chicken Curry, and Chicken Tikka Masala. We ended up with Chicken Momo, Chicken Tikka Masala sauce (no chicken).
What’s odd is that our receipt didn’t align with the ticket that we got when we went in, and the price was different. So to be fair, I believe we paid for what we got — we just got the wrong things which makes little sense when you order online and in theory, the order ends up in their system. And yes, I checked. The correct name was on the ticket received on the food.
On to the food. The lamb samosa was absolutely delicious. Would totally get those again. The spice options were “no spice”, “mild” and “hot”. We ordered most things “mild” which was definitely mild — like not even a hint of spice. Also, both the Tikka Masala Sauce and Nepali Curry lacked real flavor.
Overall, while the food was mostly okay, the inability to get what I ordered online and the lack of flavor in some of the dishes, I sadly cannot recommend the...
Read more01.2025 Back here again. In 2 days we tried Sag Paneer and Yellow Dal both with Plain Paratha. They were not good.
We also tried Malai Kofta at spice level 9. It was perfect, creamy and flavorful. Tandoori roti is so far the best.
Fried momos are not frozen one and lost the taste they use to have.

Now we got to know that If you like Indian Spicy than you need to ask for spice level 15.
We tried Veg fried Mo-Mo. they we nice specially with the red sauce. Tandoori Roti was also crispy and nice.

I tried again Malai Kofta at spice level 10. Kofta Balls were not fresh and at the level 10 also it was medium spicy. On the other hand Veg Biryani at level 8 was good.
Take away order was ready in just 15 min.

We tried Malai Kofta and Dal Tadka with Nan and Aaloo Paratha.
We already asked to make them super spicy but still food were on medium level other than that it was tasteful and freshly prepared.
You can avoid Aaloo Paratha as there was negligible stuffing.
We will definitely give them another try next time we...
