I was hesitant to stay here after reviews on Google and TripAdvisor complained about cleanliness, old rooms, rude staff, and general disrepair of the property. But this place was great! We stayed 6/8/24-6/10/24 and found everything exactly as described on the hotel's website, everything in working order, and updated as much as an older hotel can be. They will not/cannot cater to your every whim and need, but they shouldn't have to either. Need more bedding- they will give it if you ask. Towels? Sure thing. Pillows- yup how many more would you like? But to complain and dock a rating because very specific requests weren't met and you had to carry out your own trash gasp! in the middle of your stay?! Heaven forbid we have to act like adults and just clean up after yourself when staying at a hotel. Or drive around the parking lot to park by your room. Or carry your luggage up stairs bc there is no elevator (which is also very clear from their listing). I also saw someone complain abotu homeless people. I never saw a homeless person in or around the hotel, or the entire time we were in Casper. I, a female, felt very safe the entire stay.
This is a budget hotel that went above and beyond what to expect of a budget hotel but it will never be the one to offer every service and convenience known to man. The bathrooms were clean. The appliances work and are not gross. The A/C did take a while to cool down the rooms but only because it was a small unit for one of the biggest rooms I have ever had at a hotel. I set our thermostat at 67 because I like to sleep in the cold and it did cool down to that temperature. There was no odor in the rooms or the hallways. I am not sure where another reviewer saw "threadbare" carpet in the hallways, but it wasn't in any of the hallways I was in. The windows were double pane vinyl windows and kept the outside noise out. The doors were solid. The beds were comfortable and the linens were all sparkling white. Was the fridge an older model? Yup! But it stayed cold and did it's job and was clean. The ONLY complaint is that the sofa bed in our suite had a stereotypical sofa bed mattress in that it was not at all soft and you felt every bar and spring. That really needs a change, but I won't dock them a rating because unless people bring it to the attention of the hotel, how are they to know? And we didn't say anything. Just something to consider if you are planning on using the sofa bed to have someone sleep.
The staff was so accomodating and friendly and hard working. We were told that the hotel was completely sold out by their manager when I inquired of additional rooms for friends traveling with us. And they clearly were. People everywhere, the check-in line curved around the lobby and the front desk clerks were working hard to go as fast as they could to get everyone taken care of while still being friendly. There was a large Irish dance festival/competition happening at the hotel with many participants staying at the hotel, the College Finals Rodeo was in town, a minor league baseball team was in town and staying at the hotel for a weeked series, and there was a youth baseball tournament in town. The staff had their hands full but greeted everyone with smiles and tried their best to do whatever they could for everyone I saw them speak to. The breakfast was good with lots of choices and even with this giant hotel sold out, they never ran out of food the mornings we were there. Honestly, we were incredibly impressed. It was nicely decorated, clean, safe, quiet, and welcoming. We couldn't have asked for more. Perhaps the hotel staff all put on their game faces and rallied because it was so exceptionally busy, but I was impressed with the quality throughout even with so many people around.
Don't let the bad reviews scare you off. Things break, a room here or there could have issues, but that is true of any hotel. I have had worse experiences at high end hotels. This is a solid choice and you are likely to...
Read moreBooked riverside thinking it was the old Parkway Plaza, found out that it wasn't since and canceled a very reasonably priced room with conjoined room so I could book this hotel since I've always had a great experience here. I even paid 300$ more than the riverside for 2 rooms for 2 nights. I booked a week ahead and called 3 times and spoke with Nicole each time and was reassured that a note for conjoined rooms was added on my reservation every time. I called the day before checking in and was reassured again. Day of the check in we arrive, they tell me they don't have a conjoined room I was frustrated but polite until they booked the person next to me the room I had booked and paid for. When asking what the heck, I was told they tried to book the room earlier that day and it wasn't clean - this showed me that the 800 I spent and my family was not a priority. Mind you I have loyally stayed at this hotel for years. A manager came and upgraded us to a king suit, with conjoined double queens this worked because I originally booked king room with conjoined queens. They give us the breakfast vouchers and the morning rolls around my teens go to have breakfast and were turned away being told they have to pay for breakfast- on Google, on their local website, and on travel agency sites it CLEARLY states Continental breakfast included. The teens come back up to the room and explain what happened. I had to wake my infant and get ready to go down to the lobby to see how to eat. They seat us in the restaurant and I ask the server how this hotel breakfast works - keep in mind they don't explain this at check in and they didn't explain this on the website- she explains the hotel covers 10$ for adults and 8$ for kids to eat off the restaurant menu. This is not a continental breakfast and the choices were extremely limited as a dollar tree Togo box of cereal costing 4$ and isn't enough to feed a teen let alone 2 teens and 10yr old. Breakfast needs some work as it was very generic and tasteless.
Talked with the GM Greg I believe his name is. He was very empathetic and Accommodating. Greg took the time to listen to my complaint and frustrations He reassured me that he appreciates the business that I have given them and gave me $200 back on my rooms as well as 10,000 points on my account he also offered to personally book me the next time that I need a room here.
Greg here is some feedback, breakfast could be alot better. Maybe offer Continental breakfast separate from the restaurant where people can serve themselves. If wanting to keep the restaurant for hotel guests then I would say maybe a separate menu for the hotel guests given at check in or placed in the rooms. Or keep the same menu and charge the people that are not hotel guests. The food could have better flavor. Either way you go or if no change is made I would recommend when checking in explain the the guests how breakfast works. As well as on the website I would put breakfast voucher included for the hotel restaurant.
I appreciate your help Greg. I...
Read moreSpent extra and went out of the way because this place was supposed to be “pet friendly” and rooms were supposed to be set up with pets in mind (we even called before to confirm this before making the reservation because we are moving to a different state so we had to have our cats with us) Absolutely not the case . Not even 20 minutes after getting here one of my two cats go missing . We check under the bed where there’s supposed to be a panel it’s knocked loose ( assuming they didn’t check this before issuing us a room ) and my cat had tucked herself up inside the box spring (she was able to do this because the bottom of the mattress was absolutely tore up - again not checked) - again this happened in a span of MAYBE 20 minutes when we were brining our personal items into the room . What I’m not understanding is why advertise pet safe rooms and issue a pet deposit at check in when rooms clearly are not checked OR SAFE for animals . These are things that easily could of been handled if proper checking from staff had happened . So we had to tear our room up ourselves to get our cat out without hurting her and then put everything back at risk of getting more money taken from us - which is absolutely NOT something you should have to do as a guest at a “pet safe” hotel. Don’t even want to know what else their not checking / cleaning properly . If you have pets goes somewhere else . OH and we were left to pet proof a room that we paid for when it should’ve been done already.
Extension : shortly after this review we put our cats in the bathroom to figure out the room situation come to find out a giant hole that lead to sewer pipping was in there and of course my cat being a cat went back there thank god I was able to get her out . Great job at checking your “pet safe room”. Absolute insanity. Spent 10+ hours on the road hoping to relax in a hotel for the night and got stuck tearing up , cleaning , attempting to pet proof our own room.
I have photos and videos of everything with time stamps from point...
