I love to try out hole-in-the-wall restaurants but this one failed to deliver. I also loath giving a bad review and it may have been just an off day but this one is earned. The staff was friendly though the sticky table was the first harbinger of bad news and when the coffee tasted off the avalanche was in full swing. How can you mess up coffee? Apparently, you can. The breakfast prep took longer than I think it should have in this sparsely attended diner but regardless when it did arrive it looked unappetizing and that is when I noticed the sign on the door that asked for “cooks”. In retrospect it would not surprise me if the ostensibly short-staffed crew roped in the dishwasher to wear the chef’s hat because when my wife and I first saw what we were served we immediately locked eyes in demoralized surprise. Preparing food is partly art for the enjoyment of the eye and thus the first task of the cook is to create an appealing plate through whatever means available. Granted this venue is not supposed to be a pretentious affair and it’s not advertised as such but it is implying itself as a “home cooked” establishment that should be fulfilling folk’s hope of good tasting food that looks good too. So when I saw the pancakes wending their way toward me I shouldn't be blamed for disabusing myself of any such notion. They were almost white and my wife reported that they were tasteless and wondered aloud with the now recurring question: “How can anyone mess up (fill in the blank) pancakes?” Certainly the wielder of that spatula had to have been an unprepared draftee because they followed that up with a drab and bloblike omelet that could have been easily bested on my home gas range – it just looked bad. I've never seen an omelet with all the ingredients on the outside with water leaking out. A generous infusion of salt and pepper could not rescue these misused eggs from the abyss of blandness and curiously offending tastes and textures. As I ate the grilled biscuit I could not shake the idea that it was made with what could only be described as pre-rancid oil just one of the maladies suffered by the aforementioned omelet. I was disappointed for sure and hope that it was just an off day but I won't be giving them a second shot at my palate or wallet. I gave the waitress a full and generous tip as she was nice, worked hard and the food was not her fault but otherwise the only tip I have for the management is...
Read moreCouldn’t wait to write this review. First let me start by saying I’ve had pretty good experiences at this establishment before today. I have been coming here for MANY years and use to be a server myself. I have tipped above and beyond. I have brought colleagues there for lunch and even went there for breakfast with all of my family. Where to start? Let’s start with my order. I placed a pick up order online, paid online. All I had to do is go in and pick it up. The lady greeted me, I told her why I was there and she said ok your food should be right up. Perfect. Sat down and got my food. Got to my car, opened it up. I ordered fries and when I opened it up they were soggy Home fries. I went back in and asked the lady if I could please give these back as they were not what I expected or if I could just get something else cheaper. She looked at me and said no we can’t do any of that. Then she proceeded to say, if you’re picking up for a delivery why are you opening the bag. I said mam, I paid for this online and this is for myself. She said ok in that case then I don’t care what you do with it. I said ok so just to be clear, I cannot get a refund even though I am willing to give you this food? I cannot get something cheaper? She said no dispute this through your bank. We can’t do it because of our system I know you don’t understand but you’ll have to dispute it with your bank. I said ok and walked out. No apology or empathy. She then proceeded to say I’m not trying to be rude or mean but home fries won’t change no matter what restaurant you go too. She was so unbelievably rude and disrespectful. I have never EVER had such a horrible customer service experience as the one I encountered today. I use to love this place. I’m not sure if this lady was the owner or just a server. If you read this or to whom ever reads this, please know that you can relay a message without an attitude and that would go along way. Without the attitude, you probably would have gotten a better rating even if I didn’t like the outcome. The way you spoke to me is unprofessional, disrespectful, lack of customer service, and you aren’t the type of person to be working in the hospitality industry. I do understand that we all have our days but you were clearly just rude and disrespectful. I’ll attach a picture of my very dry French toast and disgusting soggy “home fries”. I truly hope this was...
Read moreMy name is Celeste and I am a food critic that writes for local restaurants, and in turn write an article based on my opinion of the experience I recieve as well as how I rate the food and the staff. I wish I could give this diner a 5 based on the food and the professionalism I had witnessed with the main cook I believe is management though I xould ne wrong (if Ross isn't he should be!).I came in to this establishment on May 6,2022 and a lady named Kelly was my server. Not only was she belligerent on some type of d drug (I know for a fact was drugs as my baby sister is an addict) but there is a time and place for everything. Kelly was nodded out and barely coherent. I Walt that she needed narcan as she couldn't lift her head to take our order ND continuously mumbled everything and nothing was intelligible. Our food arrived before our drinks and she was sleeping next to the computer. It took forever for our food as she tried blaming the cook but we knew better. She definitely forgot and tried pitting it off on line of the best cooks I ha ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. No accountability number one and that's a liability to any restaurant and the owner needs to know this. So I hope she checks these. This Kelly is the reason I will never set foot in this diner again. However only if she is working. This place has come so far and the food is phenomenal and I will be publishing it. Get rid of that drug addict and get someone with class that represents your company with a lot more class. There is no reason that woman should work there unless you want your restaurant to be a failure. Anyway Ross and back of house keep up the amazing job it's cooks like you that are a dying breed. But the front server a to be coherent when at work. Get Kelly out of there if you want you diner to...
