Fabulous spot for breakfast!! This no frills diner is focused on great food and amazing service. Rosie was our server and she was knowledgeable about the menu items and super friendly. Ask her anything and you'll get a solid answer. I had the chicken fried steak with hash browns and eggs. The breading is crispy. The steak tender and moist. The gravy was thick and chocked full of flavor. Added biscuits and that was 100% the right move! Thanks Rosie! Eggs are cooked perfectly. Runny yolk mixed well with the gravy and hash browns creating various textures and flavors. The Florentine Eggs Benedict delivered! Great sauce over poached egg and spinach. English muffins were standard and did their job well. Has browns were also standard and cooked to perfection. Crispy outside with tender potato inside. Seemed like the entire staff worked well as a team. Felt very mom-and-pop kind of place in that you were welcomed into their home. Would 100% go back.

In Cathedral City this is our Monday Morning Breakfast Place. (Occasional) In this occasion I want to share with you our Belgium Waffle choice this last week off the breakfast menu, we also asked for a side plate of fruit, waffle was served warm ,with fresh melted syrup & packets of butter on the side. The coffee never stops, they pour until you cannot drink any more, ( coffee is a medium roast) the server assistants do a far better job than the server's themselves. ( Slow service, overall when busy) It can take up to a 30 minute wait time before being greeted. Will however have coffee and water meanwhile. Food is great, service is novice , server assistants get the job done. Far than fair prices on everything both breakfast & lunch. Ambiance is okey .. ( frequented by regulars who treat it like a second home) Anticipate parking is scarce.

A nice sit down in or outside place. The server I had was great, just as pleasant as could be. The food was so so. The food, the omelette was pretty darn good, lots of good ingredients, enough to share. The hash browns are not good at all. The potato used was dry and tough a bit and didn’t cook up well. How is this being served? Does the cook and owner not understand the difference between great hash browns and this (opposite)? The gravy added is from a can and tasteless. The toast is low quality bread. And the dreaded Smuckers tray… nothing decent for spread. The server was super and tried with a new side of hash browns, again it’s bad. The owner needs to try their own food or get someone who understands the difference to correct a few letdowns in the food. The course pepper barely comes out of the pepper shaker.

A friend and I met there this morning 10/22/17 for breakfast and to have a meeting to discuss business. Neither of us had eaten there before but both heard so much about the food so we very excited to try it. It was crowded but we were sat very fast. The server was fast and she kept checking back with us. The food was huge portions like we were told and it was very good. Not disappointed at all on what we were told. However....when we got done eating. We were having coffee and going over the paperworker we needed to and the whole reason we met there. As soon as my friend paid the bill and left the tip on her card....a server by the name of Tim came up to the table and told us he had to ask us to leave because he had a huge party waiting snd needed our table. My friend was very upset and said oh you wait until i pay my bill and get the tip. He said ladies you have to leave we need to seat people. I said that i was still drinking my coffee which i was and he started to remove the coffee cup from the table. There were 4 open tables where we were sitting and 2 on the patio. My friend was so upset she gathered her stuff and told him he was rude. We were both very embarressed because other customers were now looking at us as if we were getting kicked out. As we git up.... He just walked away. As we were walking out the door very upset and humiliated....i was saying how ridiculous it was... and another customer over heard me. She said it happens all the time there. Said its a mom and pop place for 30 years and staff has no customer service skills. Its all about the tips. Very greedy. Wow....what a shame. I have been a server and hostess for over 40 years..i have never ever heard of that before. In fact....i would have been fired on the spot if i told a paying customer that they needed to leave because i needed the table. Especially 5 minutes after they were done eating. We were not loitering....we were paying customers. We were only there 30 minutes from start to finish.... if even that. We were not even done eating 5 minutes and We were still drinking our coffees. This was very wrong and rude and i will not be back nor will my friend. I will not recommend the place to anyone and i will continue to give this review numerous times on numerous websites and sny time anyone mentions your place.. That server should really not be working as a server. He is very ignorant and rude. You lost 2 customers today. Sad because the food...

The food was amazing, portions are huge, it wasn't to busy and weather was great so we sat outside there was 3 of us. Throughout the time we were there several staff came out to help us and we had one waitress. Our food was served really quickly within 15 minutes it seemed like however when we were ready to leave is when the issue I had happened. We asked for boxes and the check, from a gentleman, then our waitress came out and asked if we needed boxes we said a gentleman was grabbing them but would like our check so our check was brought to us and I handed over my credit card no biggie like normal, then my husband and niece went to take food and go to truck, and I stood up and a gentleman brought me my check and card to sign next thing I know I had another staff standing next to me and a waitress that had not waited on me standing behind me I was surrounded by thee staff members outside in seating area were we had eaten and an older gentleman had been eating only the whole time were there no reason for three staff to surround me tab for three meals was 61.73 not even to much and my card was already ran so no reason to crowd me like that I felt like I had vultures around me it was awful the guy tried taking the tab before I was even done adding tip I had to ask to add a tip rounded bill to 80.00 and put a 5.00 bill on top I hope pur waitress even got the tip Iit was hands down most uncomfortable situation I've ever been in to be surrounded by staff like that the food was great but not worth that. I DOUBT I WILL BE...

From the moment you step into Don and Sweet Sue's, you're embraced by an atmosphere that feels more like coming home than just dining out. This gem in Cathedral City isn't just a restaurant; it's a warm, inviting haven where every meal feels like a home-cooked feast. Their pancakes are not just the largest I've ever seen but also the most delicious, setting a gold standard for breakfast that's hard to beat anywhere else.

What makes Don and Sweet Sue's stand out isn't just the quality of the food, which is exceptional and reasonably priced, but the feeling of community and nostalgia it evokes. It's a place frequented by a typically older clientele, reflecting its timeless appeal and the loyal business it has cultivated over the years.

My personal connection to Don and Sweet Sue's stretches back to my childhood, a testament to its enduring presence and the fond memories it helps create. Dining here has been a cherished tradition since my grandparents first brought me, and it's filled with warm, family feelings that linger long after the meal is over. Even though my grandfather is no longer with us, returning to Don and Sweet Sue's feels like he's still joining us for breakfast, making each visit not just a meal, but a cherished moment in time.

If you're looking for more than just a meal, but an experience that warms the heart and soothes the soul, Don and Sweet Sue's is the place to be. It's easy to see why they do such great business; they're not just serving food, they're serving memories, one...
