Very disappointed in Cedar Cakes. From the pictures to the good reviews I’ve seen, I figured I would give them a try & I truly wish communication was better. I reached out to Cedar Cakes by filling out the online form as requested. I was very detailed in what I was looking for from the theme of the cake to the flavors I was interested in. When I received a call, I was more than happy to answer questions about my son’s cake even though I specified everything on the website. When asked what flavors I wanted, I gave 2 flavors that I wasn’t too sure if were available because there are no flavors listed online. I also asked about doing a cake tasting to make sure I liked the flavors & was told that a cake tasting was available with it being $5 per flavor. I had no problem with this so I set a date to come in to taste the flavors. On Saturday, I reached out saying we would be arriving later than 1pm & I gave an exact ETA. We drove over 30mins to the location. Once we arrived we realized it was a house but that was not my full on issue. I called to make sure we were at the right location which we were so I told the lady we were outside. We waited outside for over 10mins which was a bit of a problem for me & I was anticipating leaving but I wanted to give it a little more time. When the baker came out, I asked what flavors the cakes were & she said “vanilla & chocolate” which really disappointed me because as stated I was very specific on 2 other flavors. If those flavors were not available, this should have been said prior to me driving over 30 mins to do a tasting on regular vanilla & chocolate cakes. I ordered a cake from Cedars Cakes to celebrate hitting 1,000 orders for my small business. While there were some mix-ups during pick-up, it wasn’t a huge issue for us since we weren’t in a rush so we came back the next day to pick up the cake.

However, we had specifically requested for “1000 orders” to be written on the cake, and when we saw it, the writing looked messy and unprofessional; more like something we had done ourselves than what we expected from a professional bakery. The baker/owner (not sure if they’re the same person) wasn’t present, so Sanika, who was helping us, called to let her know we were unhappy with the lettering. The response from the baker was, “I even gave them a bigger cake to compensate for the pick-up time mix-up.”

While we appreciated the extra inch cake, it didn’t make up for the fact that the decoration wasn’t what we asked for. The baker never came to address or fix the issue, which was disappointing.

Sanika, on the other hand, was incredibly helpful every time we interacted with her. She acknowledged our concerns and, although she mentioned she wasn’t a cake decorator, she offered to redo the design. She did a great job fixing it and making the cake presentable. Her customer service really stood out, and she’s the main reason we’re giving this experience 4 stars instead of 2.

Everyone experiences can be different and mine ended with DNR. I decided to use this bakery for my daughter's sr prom. Let's just say the final product was horrible. The designer definitely didn't deliver to my expectations at all. That's not me being a jerk, but it was bad. The cupcakes were not moist or soft....definitely had been sitting for days, the icing was nasty, didn't even taste like butter cream & the design was not up to standards and I could really tell it was a rushed job. When I arrived, I noticed some errors, like putting HBD cupcake toppers, when I mentioned several times throughout the process that it was for a prom. I was in a hurry, so I didn't do a thorough look of the product & just pointed out a few obvious errors. The designer didn't follow my request at all & pretty much did her own thing...which was a sloppy job. Even though I provided examples of what I was expecting, it was a poor job. Many of the guests from the event complained about the taste of those cupcakes. I was really upset about that, because that serves was not cheap. I was highly disappointed & wasted my money for custom cupcakes and it was nothing custom about them.
