G.L. Shacks Grill is an American restaurant and sports bar. They share a parking lot with a law office. When we entered, we were told that we could sit anywhere we'd like.
For drinks, we had a Coca Cola and Arnold Palmer. The Arnold Palmer is made with unsweetened tea.
The appetizer came quick but there was a long wait for the salad, sandwich, and burger. Our server Stephen gave us an appetizer without napkins, silverware, and plates. My boyfriend and I devoured the Mozzarella Moons, which consisted of crispy, herb crusted, and parmesan dusted mozzarella crescents served with a chunky tomato marinara dipping sauce.
The rest of our food came 30 minutes later. They messed up my boyfriend's Classic Shack Burger with a few modifications. He asked to add bacon and remove tomato and cheese. The burger that he received consisted of chargrilled black angus beef patty, bacon, shredded lettuce and tomato on toasted brioche bun. He wanted the burger to be cooked to medium but it came dry and extremely well done. He asked for no tomatoes but he got it anyways. The tomato and bacon were overdone too. He asked for Old Bay kettle chips but received fries instead.
I enjoyed The Reuben but not a fan of the Classic Caesar Salad. The Reuben consisted of Guinness brined corned beef, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing dressing, and swiss cheese on a grilled toasted marble rye bread. The Classic Caesar Salad consistes of chopped romaine lettuce hearts and garlic croutons tossed in a creamy garlic parmesan Caesar dressing. It was way...
Read moreMy better half and I come here multiple times a week. We like this spot because it's less than a mile from where we live, but we keep coming back for the top-notch service and awesome food. You can go to one of the many liquor stores in the area, sure, but nothing beats being able to relax in a cozy atmosphere, surrounded by great (yes mostly older) people and being served by some hard working ladies and gents. Everything we have tried, from the mozzarella moons and shack nachos, to the shrimp salad sammich on CHIBATA and the shack burger, but also the fries, salads, and some of the BEST MD CRAB and cream of crab soup I've had in the Catonsville area. Maybe the best MD CRAB Soup I've had anywhere and I've had homemade to high end eastern shore restaurant.
The only thing I wish they would do is switch the horse racing channel with some kind of dirt racing channel. Not sure it's possible on a normal cable setup, but to see something like FloRacing being played all the time would be great. I've met many other circle track racing fans here, to my surprise! You guys are still out there!! Hahaha. They have all the Orioles games on and I assume Ravens games as well, only been frequently coming for the last 6 months or so. Parking in the rear can get kind of tight sometimes as well, but is...
Read moreCame here for a quick lunch while visiting the Baltimore area. They have a full sit-down restaurant, but it was lunchtime during the week, so sat in the bar area. Found a seat and Kelsey quickly handed me a menu and glass of water.
I was in the mood for crab, so ordered the Cream of Crab soup for an appetizer and the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake sandwich. It was listed as market price which was $19.95 on my visit. The cream of crab soup was a great sign of the quality to come. Soup was indeed very creamy with large chunks of fresh crab. I would've been happy with just the soup, but then came the sandwich. It was overflowing with very large chunks of crab served on a brioche bun. Sandwich was amazing and every bite was worth every penny.
I will definitely come back here when I'm near...
