Gyro Hut and Groceries — Restaurant in Cedar Rapids

WARNING TO ALL!!!! I ordered food from work one evening. One of the items ordered were wings. Without question, they were long past their expiration date. Awful. Another person ordered the catfish combo, again, rancid fish that they tried to push out hiding it under deep-fried breading. Veryu obviously bad. Lastly was a gyro, their signature item. Dried out old meat. Awful. All of the food went in the garbage. Contacted the owner/manager who at first seemed kind. She was very apologetic and offered to replace our items with apparently fresh ingredients. Unable to return that evening, we received a credit. BIG MISTAKE! She quickly changed her tune when I went in to pick up one single item for less than $10, their gyro again. Suddenly she isn't very good at speaking English and refused to honor her promise to correct the issue. Aside from the horrible way of treating an unhappy customer, one should definitely think twice about ordering from a smoke shop. Had I known it was a tobacco shop fronting as a restaurant, I would have passed from the beginning. I always just called in the orders so, I was shocked to say the least lol. Beware!! Do they even have the proper permits to be operating as a restaurant?? ...

Went to CR for a college visit. We did read the reviews before entering and yep.....they were right. It is a bong and cbd shop at first glance. Then you can smell the kitchen. We decided to order anyways. Our order took about 10 minutes for them to make. We waited in the car since there is no where to sit down inside. While I ran back in for the food, my wife and kids called me from the car about a weirdo walking through the parking lot. Yep... you guessed it. A bonefide real-life crackhead was walking around. Food was delicious. We did order a couple of gyros and they were 10 stars as well as the chicken tender dinner. The only sad part is we were looking forward to tasting the cheese sticks we ordered and they did not pack those. They gave us an additinal5 pc. chicken finger order. Gyros was delicious. I think it could've used more meat for the price but it was tasty. Reminds me of Chicago. Chicken wings with mild sauce was cooked way too hard. Also, the wings were very small and expensive. I will not order them again. But, the gyros I will. I wish this place was in a better location. The traffic the this place attracts is very disrespectful and ghetto. Both times I went there I was privy to loud bad language and bumping and shoving with no apologies but bad looks. Which again reminds me of Chicago's west side. Pretty soon this place will be closed down due to someone getting shot on the property. So, call in your order and pick it up early in the day....you...
