We meant to order online from the Birwachi in Fort Collins before we realized that there are two restaurants with the same name 2 hours away from each other. After we realized our mistake, we called to cancel our order ahead of the pickup time. At one point the lady admitted they were able to use the food to fill other orders and was going to issue us a gift card. As soon as I informed them that we don't live in the area so we want our money back rather than a refund, the story immediately changed and they now said that they had to throw the food away and can't issue a refund. Convenient...once you learn someone isn't coming back, just take their money and make double on the same food! I'm really sure you couldn't use that food to fill other orders. I mean it's not like anybody else orders biryani, butter chicken, or naan during peak dinner hours on a Saturday night or anything. Maybe if they said they could only give us a partial refund because they couldn't sell it all, I could believe it, but even the naan? Literally everyone orders that! Not to mention they head already admitted to me that they resold everything.
Also, if you are going to have two restaurants with this name within 2 hours of each other, make your website clear where your pickup location is at because I'm sure we aren't the first people to make this mistake.
Update: Most of the food was ordered with a mild spice level, which is easily adjustable by adding more spice...so you're "customized spice" issue is a non issue. Also, there is no spice added to the naan, so if you threw out our multiple orders of naan, that's on you, Send me pictures of our food? You can send me pictures of any food and say it was mine. What does that prove? Furthermore, nobody mentioned sending pictures that night when I called twice, so I can only assume that those pictures were taken at a later date to cover your tracks. As for my review being unfair, I shared my honest experience about the service based on my honest interaction with you. How is that unfair? As for the website listing your location, I assume these restaurants are owned by the same person, or at least franchised under the same franchise since they have the same name. If so, have it specify a pickup location. If not, why the __ would you give your restaurant the same name as another one in the area? That's ridiculously confusing.
Call you to work this out??? Really??? I did that multiple times and you guys refused. Working this out would involve a refund, which you have refused multiple times, so deal with the consequences of the review! The funny thing is that if you guys would have told me up front that you were unable to reuse some of the meals but would refund us for what you did reuse, I would have completely understood, but to act like you couldn't even reuse the multiple orders of naan??? EVERYONE that comes in orders naan, and it is not made to any spice level at all, which is your whole claim for why you couldn't reuse the food! Add to this the fact that the first lady on the phone admitted that you did reuse the food and was going to give me a gift card until I mentioned we were from out of town and just wanted a refund, then the story suddenly changed and you couldn't reuse the food and were not offering anything? So because I don't live in the area, you feel it's ok to...
Read moreLive and learn, we should get puffs to go. The staggering amount of to-go orders should have been our tip off to not dine in.
This was our second time dining in and it was worse than the first. Despite not getting the correct order before, having to wait quite a while for all of our entrees so one or two people were finished eating while the third waited and waited for an entree, having a broken AC in summer (it is fixed and blasting now in the winter), peeling wallpaper, unevenly spaced booths that are immovable, being told they were out of ingredients only when we asked where was the vegetable dish or two we ordered and was brought a huge and terrible plate of barely cooked red onions and cilantro instead and was charged the same price as our missing dish with multiple ingredients and a sauce. As I write this I think what a glutton for punishment we were to try it again eventhough they have tasty puffs and an extensive menu to try something else that might have all of the ingredients listed on the menu. They are consistent. They were still missing items ordered and were out of ingredients.
Again, we were impressed with all of the delicious-looking desserts when walking in but were again so disappointed with our meal and service that we still didn’t order any.
We were waited on by multiple people who were for the most part pretty polite except for two ladies. My husband ordered a drink that never came but was charged and several puffs as he liked them from our first time and they did not disappoint. We shared the vegetable samosas and they were okay but the pastry was pretty thick and hard to cut into and the mint/cilantro chutney is so off-putting it made every bite too bitter and left an unpleasant aftertaste. My meal was the popcorn paneer starter I had before which is supposed to come with a sauce. For the second time it did not come with a sauce. This time it was so hard and coarse that it tore up the roof of my mouth and hurt my jaw to eat very much of. I asked a lady that stopped by about the sauce and she said they were out of it. We heard that last time too when our order was missing stuff. It seems like they should tell the customer that and ask if they can substitute something else instead of being irritated the customer is brining it up.
I already had the mint/cilantro chutney that I don’t like with some hard samosas and instead asked for the tamarind chutney. It was quite savory and had some tang but wasn’t as good as I hoped with the paneer and they only gave me a little cup that wasn’t a quarter full. She said to let her know if I needed more and ran off as I said I needed more.
As to the lack of friendliness of the ladies, when taking our order a different lady was irritated with me asking for an appetizer to be my entree and brought out later. It was still brought out with the other appetizers which was fine but you’d think with all of the unexpected, surprise substitutions and missing ingredients they’d be more flexible since they are expecting it of their customers.
Also, beware of where you sit as the AC is cranked up even in the winter and you end up eating...

During my recent visit I had a mixed experience that left me with both praise and criticism. While the food showed promise, the service and ambiance fell short of my expectations.
The Food: A Promising Start The dishes we ordered were flavorful, but unfortunately, several of them lacked a bit of salt. The aloo bhaji for the Aloo Puri was also more watery than usual. Despite this, the food was still enjoyable, and I appreciated the variety of options on the menu. The biryani was fragrant and expertly cooked, and the portions were generous.
Service: Swift but Scattered While our food arrived promptly after ordering, the service experience was marred by a lack of attention to detail. Despite a seemingly ample staff, we found ourselves repeatedly requesting basic amenities like salt, water, and table clearing. The staff appeared disorganized, with some team members wandering aimlessly, attempting to identify tables in need of assistance, only to delegate tasks to colleagues instead of taking action themselves. This led to frustrating delays and a sense of disconnection from our servers, making it a chore to get their attention when we needed it.
Ambiance: A Bit of a Letdown The entrance area was cluttered with take-away containers, and some tables were not cleaned despite being empty. It was clear that there was a hierarchy among the staff, with some employees only responsible for taking orders and not attending to other tasks. When I visited the restroom, I noticed a group of employees chatting near the entrance to the kitchen and in the alley to the restroom, which didn't give a great impression.
Ventilation: A Lingering Issue And then there's the issue of ventilation. Like many Indian restaurants, Bawarchi Biryani Point struggles with removing the pungent aromas of its spices from the air. After our visit, our clothes reeked of the unpleasant spice smells, a lingering reminder of the meal that was hard to shake. An upgrade in ventilation would go a long way in improving the overall dining experience.
The Verdict: Bawarchi Biryani Point shows promise, but it needs to work on its service, ambiance, and ventilation to become a top choice for Indian cuisine in Denver. If you're a fan of Indian food and are willing to overlook some imperfections, you may still enjoy your meal here. However, if you're looking for a more polished dining experience, you might want to look elsewhere. Recommended For: Fans of Indian cuisine, those looking for a quick meal
Tips for Improvement: Pay more attention to seasoning and consistency in dishes Train staff to be more attentive and proactive Improve ambiance by decluttering the entrance and ensuring tables are cleaned promptly Upgrade ventilation to remove pungent spice smells from the air By addressing these areas.
Bawarchi Biryani Point could become a standout in the Denver dining scene. Until then, it remains a mixed bag – promising,...
