I was craving Chinese and my usual spot had already closed. I did a Google search and found this location not too far and still open. Reviews seemed decent and I figured, you can't really mess up fried rice and sesame chicken. Boy was I wrong! I ordered a sesame chicken dinner with shrimp fried rice. First, I get there and they tell me my total was $18.99. So I had to ask for my receipt because that seemed crazy to me. There was a $4 upcharge for the shrimp. Ok, no big deal, I pay. I get home and open the box and there's no sesame seeds on my chicken. Ok, no problem I don't care for them anyway. So my husband and I start to eat the rice. There's literally 6 shrimp sitting on top and no shrimp throughout the rest of the rice! I'm pissed because you charged me $4 AND it has absolutely no flavor. He was turned off after that. So I pick up a piece of chicken and dip it in the rice because I have to eat this $20 meal. The chicken tasted funny. At this point, I don't even know if it's sesame chicken. I think I'm tripping so I eat a piece of chicken by itself. I swear it tasted sour, like it was spoiled. I had my 2 daughters try the food to make sure I wasn't tripping. My 5 year old said "ugh, this gets zero stars!" (That's how she rates her food lol). My adult daughter tries it. She literally said, "this is disgusting, it's inedible!" Needless to say, we tossed my $20 dinner in the trash and my craving was not fulfilled. I couldn't call because they were closing as I was picking up my order and I figured it was a loss and lesson learned... stick to what I know! I've never had nasty Chinese food. I definitely feel like some tastes better than others but this was absolutely disgusting and no one, not even my hungry son wanted to eat it. So pissed I wasted my...
Read moreI paid in full for two orders on November 12,2021 for lunch with China Villa. My co-worker and I have severe seafood and nut allergies which are life threatening and require epi-pen. As such, we ordered two chicken dinners, plain white rice, and egg rolls. There was no indication that any of these entries contained seafood or other major allergens. However, after eating them I had a severe allergic reaction and had to take leave from work due to this. The egg rolls actually included shrimp and caused this adverse reaction. My symptoms include chest tightness, difficulty breathing, dizziness, swelling of throat, pain, and nausea.
I called to file a complaint and speak with the manager but I was told they were not available. They refused to discuss compensation for the order or my medical leave. They confirmed that they include shrimp in the egg roll but didn’t not offer any statement as to why this was not disclosed on the menu. They simply said “Sorry, we only have shrimp egg roll”. It is recklessly negligent to not inform customers of potential allergens. According to The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection and The Food Information for Consumers Regulation, major food allergens such as crustacean shellfish (e.g., crab, lobster, or shrimp) must be communicated to customers.
Therefore, the lack thereof is a clear safety violation and business misconduct. China Village was negligent and failed to adequately list major allergen ingredients in partnership with Door Dash affiliates. I am willing to settle this claim without any further legal action if I am compensated for the fees of my order. I feel this is the least to be done. I hope no other individual has to encounter this...
Read moreOrdered China Villa on Door Dash. Was fully prepared for something in the order to go wrong because of how large it was, but everything was there, exactly as described, and very well packaged- not a single leak, hole, or spill! Portion sizes were absolutely wonderful, reminded me of old school take-out where they’d FILL it to the brim, and even after the commute to the house, the food was still fresh and hot!
As far as the food goes:
SOUP: The wonton soup was really good, but a tiny bit greasy, would definitely order again- the dumplings were actually really large. I wasn’t a fan of the hot and sour soup as it wasn’t spicy enough for my liking and wasn’t very balanced (was very much on the sour side), but hot and sour soup is usually preferential anyways.
APPETIZER: The rangoons were on the sweeter side and didn’t have much filling at all- they weren’t bad, I just probably wouldn’t order them again.
DINNERS: Almond chicken was delicious, yellow gravy was more on the watery side than it was thick but tasted okay. Upgraded the rice to pork fried rice and it was so good. Beef and broccoli was great too.
SIDES: The egg rolls were filled up! Ordered a side of green onion (which I LOVED that that was an option), and they give you a really good amount with the order.
Overall really pleased with my experience ordering with them, and will definitely be ordering from here the next time I want some nostalgic...
