Gather + Grounds — Restaurant in Center Line

Very poor customer service. First off, I would like to mention that the food was good, although my chicken was very chewy. I walked into this place looking for a nice lunch with my daughter, however we were met with rudeness and unprofessionalism. There were two black young ladies working and the cashier didn’t even acknowledge us. The cashier/waitress just tossed our food on the table and walked away without even speaking. I watched her be the complete opposite with the other people that walked in, speaking to them and even smiling. I went up to get napkins and the cook rolled her eyes and spoke to me in a very unnecessary, rude tone. I watched to see how they would treat the other customers and the cashier was much nicer to everyone else. My feelings were quite hurt by this, the fact that we were treated poorly. It seemed like they were bothered by our presence or upset that we even walked in. Even my 14 year old daughter noticed the lack of decorum. I really enjoyed this coffeeshop and considered it a favorite. I started visiting about a month after it opened. The manager who was there at the beginning had marvelous customer service. I love the idea of this business from the Rising Stars Academy. The place is very spacious but since the manager left I've seen a fall off in the quality of service. One of the last times I was there the door was propped open and I could hear all the busy Van Dyke traffic. Not a huge deal but it cuts into the flavor of the experience. The last time I came in (a couple weeks ago) despite Google saying they close at 4, the sign in the parking lot said they close at 3. I got there about 2:10. Someone was mopping the floors and the table was wet. The young lady behind the counter told me the new hours started that day and acted like she wanted to be somewhere else and wasn't friendly. Very inhospitable experience. Hope they can turn it around, but I'm not sure...

Came in here while my cat gets his ultrasound at the vet. Chrissy was working and was amazing, and her skin was flawless. ✨ I told her what I normally drink and she recommended their mocha because it’s not a syrup but is actually a chip of chocolate melted with the espresso. I don’t like sweet, and it was PERFECT. Only thing I wished they had is bigger sizes (one size for cold, unsure for warm drinks) because I was ready to drink my weight in coffee. But honestly, it’s such a bold flavor that I don’t mind the size after I got it. I was a little concerned with how light it was that it wouldn’t taste strong, and I was completely wrong. It’s incredibly rich. Loved the vibe and atmosphere, quiet, cute, and modern. I got my mocha, a Smart Water, and a La Croix for less than $9 before tip. Loved Chrissy even more though,...
