Taiwan 101 — Restaurant in Center Township

I was hesitant to eat here after seeing some of the 1 star reviews. However, my experience was nothing but pleasant. Staff was very friendly and attentive. The wait time for our food was pleasant enough. And the food was delicious. I had the chicken with walnuts. Everything was delicious and fresh. If this was the restaurant after it had gone downhill, then I can only imagine what it was like before because it was a fantastic experience for me. I'm glad I went with an empty stomach because there was so much food. But like I said it was all delicious and very hot for the first 10-15 minutes of eating. I really appreciated the combination of ingredients in my meal. I think most people can expect to spend around $20-$25 per adult, but the price was worth it. The restaurant isn't a work of art inside but it was nicely lit with comfortable seating and most importantly it was clean. MY WIFE AND I ATE HERE IN DECEMBER OF 2021 AS WE HAVE BEEN WAITING A LONG TIME FOR THEM TO RE-OPEN SINCE THEY CLOSED FOR REMODELING! THIS USED TO BE OUR FAVORITE PLACE FOR CHINESE FOOD! COME TO FIND OUT THAT THEY HAVE NEW OWNERS NOW BUT ARE USING THE SAME RECIPES AS BEFORE! PLACE LOOKS ALOT BRIGHTER AND CHEERFUL INSIDE AND THE FOOD IS AS GOOD AS EVER! THEY ALSO PUT IN A HUGE AQUARIUM AND ADDS TO THE DINING EXPERIENCE! THEY ARE USING NICE SQUARE CHINA PLATES FOR ENTREES AND NICE BANDED ( SOFT ) NAPKINS ON THE TABLES! PRICES HERE HAVE ONLY RISEN SLIGHTLY AND THE PORTIONS ARE AS LARGE AS BEFORE! MY WIFE AND I ALWAYS GET OUR ENTREES FROM THE LUNCH MENU SINCE THEY ARE ALOT CHEAPER AND THE PORTIONS ARE LARGE! This was one of our favorite restaurants. Under the new ownership this place is not the same at all. Staff dressed in flip flops and pajamas or what looked like pajamas. The waitress took quite a while to take our order because she couldn't understand English very well. Our order was not complicated either. The teapot was plastic with a teabag in it and it was dirty. My husband's meal which was very simple; steamed veggies, rice and tofu. The veggies came out refrigerator cold. Not even warm. The tofu he had to wait a while for after the rice and cold veggies were served. My meal was alright but the phad Thai did not taste like phad Thai and it barely had any veggies. We were charged for 3 meals not 2. If they charged 11.50 for the plain tofu side then that is ridiculous. All I know is this was very very disappointing and we won't be returning.
