I have always taken my dogs to Pet Smart to be groomed. I love the 2 groomers I use there,. BUT, I was horrified when my daughter and my granddaughter went early to pick up their dog only to see it being mistreated by the groomer. Needless to say, she went into the salon and took her dog out of there, half groomed. I went to the grooming salon just minutes after this incident to questioned them, not only out of concern for my daughters dog, but the concern I have about taking my dogs there in the future. They of course deny any mistreating of my daughters dog. My daughter and my granddaughter were both mistaken about the incident, according to the 3 groomers and the manager. The manager said that is why they have windows to the grooming salon, so that people can see what is going on when the dogs are being groomed. They do indeed have windows, but they are so heavily decorated that the view is obstructed for the most part, unless you walk close to the window and peer between the decorations. They also seem to have cameras all over the store, but it does not appear they have any in the salon...why would that be I wonder? The groomer claimed my daughters 8lb dog was attacking her, but when I asked to see bite marks and scratches on this groomer from her alleged attack she was unable to show any marks, she did not even have a red mark on any of her arms. Just the same, my granddaughter and daughter will both tell you that the groomer was being really rough with the dog, and before they could even react to what they were seeing the groomer who had the nail grinder gripped in her hand, popped their dog on the head with it! Well, it is their word against the word of my daughter and granddaughter, but I will ask this question; why would my daughter take her dog out of the salon half groomed, when it takes her one hour to drive there from her home? Seems to me only a person concerned about the treatment of their dog would do such a thing. Now she has this silly looking half groomed dog with only 2 paws finished! As for me, I really really like the 2 girls that do my dogs at Pet Smart, but unfortunately they are now, in my opinion, both guilty by association... I had to take into consideration, when making this judgement, that one of my beloved groomers that I trusted with my dogs in the past was in the salon that night, and she told 2 different stories,...first she was in the back and saw nothing, then she was right there with the groomer who did my daughters dog and saw nothing to be concerned about.....what a drag.... I also buy all my dog food from Pet Smart, but now I see I can get it all at the Agway in Beaver, so Good Bye Pet Smart....not that it matters to you, your a huge store and my tiff will never make a difference $$$, but maybe someone will read this and decide to not take a chance on the salon in the Monaca branch....look at that, maybe I saved a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBe wary of purchasing animals here. I purchased three budgies. Once I got home and got them situated I noticed one was having a hard time breathing and had a tail bob (meaning the bird is sick, typically respiratory). I called the store the very next day and was told to bring the bird back so they can have their Banfield vet check her out. About a week or so later, we received a call that the bird was perfectly fine, and the vet said she was just āa very nervous bird.ā So relieved that she was okay, we picked her up and brought her home. This bird had the same issue as she did before⦠she was NOT a nervous bird. She had a respiratory illness as I had originally thought. I got her medical treatment outside of Petsmart/Banfield and she made an amazing recovery. She did in fact have a respiratory disease. For them to tell me they had a certified vet say she was okay is absolutely appalling. They are a business who does not care about the animals. It costs more for them to treat a parakeet than it is to just let it die. They probably get reimbursed from the breeder if the animal dies. Fortunately my once sick budgie is alive and well, and is definitely not SHY. She is actually one of the most demanding birds in my household. It breaks my heart to know that she was confined in the āsick animalā room they provided, all by herself, with no treatment. If you happen to purchase a budgie from them or any other pet store - and they are sick - even if you canāt afford veterinary care, go to morning birds website. They have antibiotics and such that can help. I learned my lesson and will always go to a responsible, reputable breeder after this experience. Budgies are not just simple animals you keep in a cage. They need to be able to free roam your house in a bird proof environment. Donāt get one if you plan to treat them like...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe grooming salon is terrible. We took our dog their back in December for a nail trim and he was fine. We stayed that time to watch to make sure everything was ok. We decided today to take him back for a bath and nail trim. The groomer told us it would take 2-3 hours which we thought was a little long. We told the groomer Fallisha that our dog was a puppy with a lot of energy, he likes to pick and jump. She was fine with him while we were there. Over 2 hours later we decided to return thinking it was about time to be done. We walked into the store to hear our dog yelping in pain! We could hear the yelping from the front door of the store. The groomers told they had been FIGHTING OUR DOG FOR OVER 30 MINUTES TO TRIM HIS NAILS!!!. I firmly believe that if we had not come in they would have continues to fight him. Eventually the groomer said to us that she wouldn't be able to do his nails. Which fine, just stop hurting my dog!! His eyes were all red, his belly was bright pink and he could barely catch his breath. But still she kept messing with him. Taking the head lead on/off, spraying him with something and then blowing air in his face because his face was damp. JUST STOP!!! Other groomers were telling her to stop. The salon manager blamed our dog saying it was an off day for him. Fallisha was using aggressive motions and was not nice to him at all. When we got him home we look at his nails that she attempted to grind down and they were butchered. Some had black marks on them and other were sharp with jagged edges. Never go to this groomer!!! They are mean, aggressive and don't care about your...
