My mom went in to order food for a family gathering, my elderly grandma had requested Taco Time. At the counter, she was informed passive-aggressively that the bundles had changed. When my mother needlessly apologized for needing a moment to adjust her order based on the new bundling, the man at the register made an inappropriate remark, saying, “I have three sisters, I know how your brains work.” Offended but conflict avoidant, my mom ignored him. After placing her order, she received her food without a receipt and unfortunately didn’t verify its completeness. Later, she discovered a significant portion was missing. When she called the store, the man told her to return. She asked me to accompany her, and I’m glad that I did because I can’t imagine how she would have been treated had I not been present.
Upon arrival, we respectfully sought the missing food. Before my mom could finish speaking, the employee rudely interrupted, stating he would only provide what was missing. My mom had not asked for anything extra, nothing of the sort had been mentioned. His tone and disrespectful demeanor upset her, prompting me to intervene. I explained we had come back from Bountiful to retrieve our missing order. He mentioned he lived there and took the bus. I indicated that his mode of transportation and location of his residence were not relevant and attempted to steer the conversation back to the actual issue. As my mom became more upset by his disrespect, she chose to go outside, leaving me to handle it.
I requested a printed receipt, he scoffed at me and instead tried to show me the order screen clear back in the kitchen. After making this request repeatedly and being met with more attitude, he finally complied. He then claimed my mother hadn’t ordered what she said she did. I understood the potential for miscommunication, we are human after all. I knew she intended to order more food for the family gathering and had even written a list to clarify the amounts. Instead of being helpful and potentially consulting the list she had brought, he was petulant. Regardless of this, what was paid for and received was still incorrect.
He claimed my mother’s story changed when we arrived, suggesting that she was exaggerating in order to receive additional food than what was owed. My family is financially secure, we have no need to take advantage of a fast food joint for a few extra tacos. I assured him that her account hadn’t changed, as I was present for the call. He stated that he had been at work since 10 AM, insisting that it gave him better memory; dismissing my mother’s, my own, and the evidence of her list and receipt, along with the shortfall of food. I was incredibly irritated. I confronted him about the remark that he made to my mother earlier. He responded that he does in fact have sisters, I assured him that having sisters doesn’t excuse sexist, offensive comments towards customers without consequence. The conversation was wholly unproductive; he was unprofessional from the get go. I did not trust him to prepare our missing food properly. We later discovered one of his long, dark hairs long inside my grandmother's burrito and it only reinforced this unease.
I told him and the two other male employees, who were intimidatingly grouped together, that my family and friends had been patrons of the establishment since it opened and would no longer return. I expressed my intent to contact management and the owner. When I asked for his name, he ignored me several times. Then he claimed his name was “confidential information.” I clarified I only wanted his first name, but he continued to refuse, even though there is literally an employee’s name on the receipt. Leaving me to utilize a description of his unkempt physical appearance when contacting his superiors.
I didn’t intend to be a “Karen” when accompanying my mother to retrieve missing food. This situation was unnecessary and stemmed solely from this man’s unprofessionalism, disrespect and contempt towards women, making him unfit for his role at this establishment...
Read moreTaco Time is a treasure. I went to this Taco Time a few days ago in the rain, and I went to the drive thru and rolled down my window and the inside of my car door got soaked as I waited for like ten seconds for somebody to say Hey welcome to the taco bell want a taco? But nobody came and so I said “never mind I’m not going to order anything!” and I backed out of the drive thru, but then I remembered that my dad reeeeeeeally likes the mexi fries (tater tots) so I parked the car and ran inside to get some of them. I must say, the place did not seem like it was being run like a tight ship. There was nobody at the counter to take my order so I just stood there like a goober. There was a gaggle of junior high school-aged kids at one of the tables. I assume this is one of their local “haunts” where they get together to “hang out” and “chill.” Finally, the bathroom door opened and a guy came out. At first, I didn’t know if he was an employee or a patron, so I held my nerve and kept looking at the menu. He came up behind the counter and asked what I would like to have. After my order was placed, I waited for about ten minutes to get my food. (sorry, my bro just got Supreme. I’m back now) Finally I got my food and dashed out to my car. It took a while but the food was totally worth it (that pretty much sums up Taco Time). Also, they sell the Beyond Meat taco, but I haven’t tried it, so don’t eat the corn out of my hands like a horse. You gotta get on your own horse...
Read moreThis location is terrible at getting an order correct. Today was the fourth visit in a row where I had missing items. The first three times I made it home and had to go back to retrieve the missing items. This time I knew I had to check my bag and ask for whatever was missing. Two items were missing on this visit. One of which had to be cooked because it wasn’t just “overlooked” it wasn’t ever even made. My previous visit when I complained to the employee that it was the third visit with missing items I was just told “it happens, nobody wants to work”. I could understand if it was extremely busy or something but there was 1 person eating and 1 person that grabbed a door dash order while I was there. This time the excuse was “the bag is just small so I couldn’t tell if everything was there, but I thought it was.” It sucks. I love taco time, but it puts me in a bad mood. It wouldn’t be a big deal if it was once in a while, but 4 out of 4 times means it’s consistently a bad experience. It’s just...
