WOW my wife and I went in just after 8pm on Thursday night. They were not busy at all so we got seated and given menus by the hostess. Then sat for 20 minutes while the the waitress cleaned 3 tables went back in the kitchen came out and walked right by us to get the table behind us that was there for some time before us. Then she walked right by us without saying a thing and went in the back we waited 5 more minutes then got up and left. 25 minutes no service no water no chips. No worries though we just drove a block over to Mazatlan got seated and was immediately given water chips with beans and salsa. And the waiter walked right up and asked if he could help us in any way. We quickly ordered and had a 5 star ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ dinner. Thanks Comal for letting us know how great the new Mazatlan is now! 👍👊🤙
I went in for lunch for my wife and I it was very empty. They asked how many I said two I was surprised instead of going to a booth where a few other couples were sitting and employees were having their lunch. I was led over to a table next to a very cold window in a little alcove with a broken table edge for me to look at sitting on chairs that felt like pure torture devices. My wife was going to be about 20 minutes late so I got both dishes served they looked very good. I purposely ordered Pollo a la crema and Pollo Diablo since those are Mainstays of almost any Mexican restaurant. I would give the Pollo a la crema 5 Stars it was very good, chicken was cooked nice and it was a good portion for the $18 that I was charged, the Pollo Diablo on the other hand the chicken was very chewy. And the flavor and the sauce and seasonings of the dish I would give about a three and a half to four on a scale of 1 to 5. As I was eating the Pollo diabla the manager walked over while the waiter was still there and reached down to my dish that I literally had just taken a bite of and turned it and scolded him and said that the main dish goes to the customer and then walked off I thought that was very poor taste and could have been done at the different time. The wait staff which they have more than ample I counted more than 15 employees, were very courteous and nice other than the manager or perhaps owner. As to that, last night around 7:30pm we tried to get in and they were jam-packed it took 30 minutes for them to even acknowledge my existence and when I did a younger gentleman that maybe was an owner I'm not sure had a very strange way of letting me know it was going to be 45 minutes before I could get in I thanked him and said I would come in the afternoon the next day. Again I don't know if that was an owner partner or what, but I will say the waiters and wait staff are very courteous. Why it's not a five-star restaurant, when you sit down and the chair rocks back and forth because it was poorly built and is super uncomfortable and then you glance immediately at broken edges on the brand new table and your brand new table is all scratched up from the night before because they used a very very cheap imitation marble that is just a plastic laminate over plywood (you can see in the photo)I don't know how that will last long but it was rather unsightly when looking around at the complete remodel that took months to do the ceiling tiles are broken and mismatched and there's lots of spots for the paint is undone in their dividers. On a very positive note the food was good the habanero salsa was excellent I like that they had decanters of water that were beautiful and functional. I will not go back if I have to sit in one of those chairs again so that's a hard no unless I can get in a booth, and if a manager touches my plate when I'm eating again that's it I will not be going back. 😁 PS when we got our bill and we tried to pay with our business debit card we are told that we couldn't pay it or table and we would have to go up front and stand by the door where their debit card machine is just like McDonald's.
Went back and tried again They seem to have gotten it together food and service was...
Read moreFirst time here, but from the looks of it, that is in part because this is a fairly new place. While we found the place, we almost walked past the front door. It was a little underwhelming. Not sure what more I expected for a front door, but I wonder if they should dress it up a bit.
The place seemed a little cramped, but that might be due to the fact that they were only using half the restaurant. Perhaps they were light on staff and they couldn't stretch them too thin.
The first thing you get is the chips and dip, and I liked the fact that the dip wasn't just the default salsa, they also had a bean dip as well. The flavor wasn't overwhelming. They weren't bad, but I wished that they had a little more seasoning. Maybe adding some cumin or chili pepper in the beans. Thickening the salsa... salted chips... something. Like I said, they weren't bad. Just hoping for more.
The menu had a lot to chose from, and it was very easy to read and descriptive. Though it took me a moment to realize that none of the drinks are on the main menu. They are all on the folded menu already on the table... even the soda, tea, and well... all the beverages.
The waitstaff was very friendly, and while it seemed like they forgot a few things, a friendly reminder and they jumped right on it. They were busy after all.
We didn't have to wait too long for the food. The chef seems to put their own personal tweaks on the recipes. Not extremely different, but not a default usual take to the basic entrees. Now, while I said the chips and dip was plain... the main dish was not. Lots of flavor, and very tasty, even with it being different... it was a refreshing change to have a unique flavor on a...
Read moreOnly reason it got one-star is because I can’t do less. My wife and I stopped by for a late lunch/early dinner about 10 days ago and It was not very good at all. I know I can be pretty critical of Mexican Restaurant food as I am Mexican myself but this was seriously awful. Our steak fajitas lacked favor and it was mostly veggies the few pieces of steak that we managed to find on our skillets of veggies were so sliced so thin and had no favor at all. I was about half way through my skillet of veggies when I bit into a piece of metal wire. It was obviously from a steel wool type of object used to clean the cast iron fajita skillets. I showed my wife and we immediately stopped eating she still had 3/4 of her meal and I had 1/2 and I told our waiter. I was not looking to get anything for free but I did expect more than the weak attempt at the I sorry I received as the waiter handed me our bill and had the bus boy take our plates away. There wasn’t many other people eating when we were there yet it took quite some time to get our meals after I had to track down the waiter to take our order to begin with. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! Don’t understand why everybody loves them and raves about the food and treatment they receive. Guess they don’t know what Authentic MEXICAN FOOD is suppose to taste like and they don’t...
