I really wanted this to work for our occasion. This was my daughter's graduation from Centralia High School. I wanted a special cake to commemorate this event. This was a business that I had not heard of before and was drawn towards them because the website.
There were pictures of beautiful cakes and examples. I was not only looking for a cake I was considering also having them provide sandwiches, and snacks. I was impressed, very qualified and experienced. However, I could not find prices, packages, a catalog to select options.
I was not going to give up on this place. I called and asked for more information and was referred back to the website. I just wanted to see examples, packages, options, perhaps prices. I really did not have time to waste. I had already hired a caterer for the main meal, rented chairs, tables. I wanted a touch of class to make it more special.
Well, I decided that if I could not get the information by website or phone I will just drive down to get my questions answered. I really like the location, the atmosphere relaxed, casual and welcoming. There workers were young and kind. Then I began to ask questions about the kind of cake, asking for examples, a picture or a catalogue, anything that shows what to select from.
I spoke to a young lady, she was very kind yet, could not answer my basic questions. She asked me to wait while she called over another worker. I thought that he would know. He was prepared to take my order but not provide any more information, such as, examples, choices, prices.
I said thank you, and left disappointed. I went way beyond efforts to try and extricate basic information. I was so frustrated I said, go down to EL AMIGO, a Hispanic store that also specializes in traditional pastry. They do weddings, Quinsenetas, birthdays etc.
They produced and absolute work of art. Tres Leches or a layer cake made with three milks. This is a traditional cake that has been made for hundered of years in Europe, as in Spain, Greece, Italy and also has traced history into Turkey and the middle east. Absolutely wonderful.
I am not going to eliminate Dawn's Delectables from my to do list. From seeing the business in person and reading about the owners talent and experience I remain curious and will give them...
Read moreFruit all tasted bitter or sour...the bagel was very good though, my aunts grilled cheese was good, wasn't interested in the fruit either, although the tomatoes are sour too?? My little one, loved her sandwich but her fruit was also sour.
The costumer service was EXCELLENT and I mean EXCELLENT. The little curly red headed girl was gorgeous by the way, and very sweet! I even complimented her. Ill be going in when I see her working now hehe.
The other employees were excellent at there jobs as well. Very kind, they make good conversations. Understanding. But the food took wayyy to long..45 mins for a grilled cheese, ham and cheese sandwich and a warmed up bagel?.... im glad we had nothing else to do that day..
Good place,...
Read moreThis was a first visit, but we will return if we are in the area! Met a friend for coffee, tea and a snack, BUT there are 2 halves to the business; baked goodies on one side, sandwiches, and more in the other. I had a Chai Tea and a superb blueberry muffin! Both are delicious and made on sight. We met Dawn and chatted for a while about her business. She is so gracious and friendly! Hubby had the cinnamon roll. Oh my! It is huge, delicious, and smothered with frosting. He also said the coffee was great. Abandon any dietary rules! You have to go for the joy of the food and camaraderie! This place is head and shoulders above that SB coffee chain! Find a day and time to savor their menu. Don't rush. It is all...
