Chipotle Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Ceres

If you are Mexican and expect this place to serve you authentic Mexican food your heart will be broken...literally. I went for the first time to this place after avoiding it many times and surely my suspicions about this place came to be true. I went to order a burrito....the guy who started off my order barely even heated my flower tortilla, the lady who filled the burrito had a very small selection of meats and the ones they did have like "honey chicken," LOL, were laughable. Honey chicken on a burrito? LOL, Yeah, OK. I asked for diced onion on my burrito along with cilantro and the lady clearly told me they didn't have diced onions. No diced onions??? Is this place serious? Anyhow, I went with a regular chicken burrito with their brown rice(Not Mexican rice in any way), pinto beans, which were not mashed, they were whole, their version of what seemed like Pico de Gallo, some shredded cheese which I will get into in a while. So I order this burrito to go cause I live only 10 minutes away. I get home...Oh my God! The flower tortilla was cold as if they had never heated it at all, the cheese they put inside my burrito was so cold instead of being room temperature that it made everything cold inside my burrito. When I bit into the burrito I swear I almost vomited. The burrito was cold, the smell of the cheese they used was overpowering and I couldn't believe I had just paid 12 dollars for this trash. Please people...if you expect Chipotle to be great Mexican food and if you expect the 12 dollars you pay for a burrito will be worth the cost...you will regret it paying that amount of money for a lousy burrito I promise. Save yourself the trouble of having to drive back to this terrible place selling so called "Mexican" food and asking for a refund like I did. They did refund my money and I will never, ever, never, ever go eat at a Chipotle again guaranteed. This food might be good enough for non Mexicans but real Mexicans will never dare call this Mexican food....NEVER!!! Stay away from this place....spend your money wisely and get yourself some real Mexican burritos from a taco truck or one of the many authentic Mexican food restaurants and supermarkets in the Modesto/Ceres area. If I could rate this Chipotle with negative stars I would...that's...

On 1/19/2023 at about 4pm I placed a mobile order for a Sofritas Bowl and a Grain Bowl. I took these to my boyfriends work in Modesto so we could eat together on his lunch break. My bowl was fine, however when my boyfriend opened his Grain Bowl, there was six pieces of chicken (we counted) no sour cream, a small sprinkle of cheese near the side of the bowl, and a bunch of lettuce.

It was overall a small serving for a $10 bowl and looked nothing like the picture advertised on the app. I went to the Chipotle at the mall (the nearest one to his work) and went inside and re ordered the Grain Bowl. This bowl was made much differently. Two scoops of chicken, sour cream, etc and it looked similar picture of the bowl as advertised on the app. (See pictures for the differences in both bowls).

I took the defective bowl back to the Ceres location and asked to speak to the manager. I informed her of the situation (she was very nice. I did not catch her name, but she looked like an Asian woman late 20s. Very nice lady). She offered to remake the bowl but I told her I already went to a different location and bought another grain bowl and showed her the receipt as proof and pictures of the discrepancies in the bowls.

Unfortunately she could not refund me for the defective bowl (which I gave back to the store) due to me having ordered through the mobile app. She said I could come in on the days she’s working (I won’t post that here) and get a replacement bowl. Not what I wanted to hear, but due to company policy that’s all she could do. I said I would do that thanked her and left.

Moral of the story: do not mobile order unless you want a smaller portion size. This is the second time I’ve had an issue at this store mobile ordering. They also didn’t put napkins or utensils in the back, despite me asking for...

I love Chipotle's food. The multiple times I have been to the Ceres location, my meals were on point. I got a well dressed Bowl without any premium add ons. Was what I have come to expect, as Ceres has not let me down to date.

I have been to both Modesto locations and have run into half portions being dolled out, compared to Ceres and other locations. I reached out to Chipotle Corporate, through their website and my concerns were ignored.

Carefully read the reviews of each location. Since Chipotle has to pay staff $20/hr in California, they seem to be shorting customers of the value they should get and pay for. Kudos to the Ceres location for providing full portions, at least for my order.

Will my concern about the Modesto locations, be ignored still again...
