My Berry Tale of Berry Brand
Social Distancing Review
Acai bowls seem to be the latest food fad, after the respective likes of poke, fancy donuts & frozen yogurt of yesteryear. I first noticed Berry Brand after the coffee shop formerly located here closed in 2019. On a hot late April day, a 1/2 acai & 1/2 coconut base bowl seemed to be the perfect candidate for a frozen lunch.
Choosing the $9 medium-sized bowl, I picked the aforementioned 1/2 acai & 1/2 coconut dream base. Some of the advertised toppings were unavailable due to the current logistics climate we're dealing with. Also, only 3 fruit toppings were available (banana, strawberries & blueberries). The rest of the toppings were de rigueur for bowl shops, such as various granola, goji berries & multiple chia pudding offerings. Some options which I haven't seen before are nut butters, apple honey & date syrup. I chose almond butter & a light amount of apple honey. No date syrup this time, as I thought that would be cloyingly sweet for me. The apple honey was sweet with a touch of acidity from apples, and the fruit was fresh. I did find, however, the consistency of the acai & coconut dream bases inconsistent. Some spoonfuls were smooth, others icy. Perhaps it was because I was the first customer of the day & the bases hadn't completely thawed, but I much prefer a smooth consistency to the main bowl ingredients.
Service was good. The helpful young man answered any questions I had & generously assembled my bowl. Parking is via a private lot.
Berry Brand serves up respectable frozen bowls. The pricing is on par with similar bowl places. I just hope the temperature & consistency of the bases are dialed in for a smoother experience. Plus, adding some more fruit options would really enhance the consumer experience, in my opinion. Overall, Berry Brand gets my...
Read moreThe shift manager Jasmine is rude & needs some more training on customer service. I made an order on the website & ordered two bowls. I put the order under my husbands name since he was going to be picking up and I noticed he ordered the wrong items and i went back to order the correct items. When i finalized the order the website glitched but the order went thru and i realized it was the original order. I instantly called to notify them what had happened and the person on shift said it would be okay and they could correct the order. I told her his name and told her to give me a second so i could give her the order number and she said it wouldn't be a problem that she would see it.
When my husband went into the store he confirmed that the order was corrected and they agreed that it was corrected. But when he arrived home we noticed it was not corrected.
I called the store and the person sincerely apologized for the confusion and said she would issue a refund for the incorrect bowl.
A minute later, Jasmine called back with an attitude saying that she could not issue the refund at all because it was under my name and not my husbands. When i explained to her that i had offered to give the order number and that the website glitched and that the person already offered me a full refund, she said she could give me 10% off the order.
I asked when i could give them a call back when the main manager or the owner was in and she informed me that they pop in whenever they want too and that she would have them give me take care of the refund whenever they talk to me.
This entire situation could have been dealt with more professionally and I wonder when the manager/owner will make the time to call and rectify this situation that Jasmine put us...
Read moreI have to say I've never been a big acai fruit bowl craver but this place had me coming back 3 times in less than a week. So far they have the best options compared to other acai locations I've been to at much fairer prices for building your own. Having a simple menu saved me time unlike other places that have specific bowls and names for each one and you gotta go through and make sure you're gonna like it all. I like being able to chose what I want to add and a definite plus for not having to pay extra! This is the only place I've found that has different options of chia puddings and all ingredients blend real well together. Ive already recommended this place to some friends and they have the same experience as well. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and explained the process and offered samples to help with your choice. Very pleased and glad I decided to try this place at the time I almost gave up on fruit bowls. Hopefully this place will stay strong despite the current situation of this world and ill be back soon, trying to cut down to at least once a week coz mama gotta...
