Based on reviews from neighbors and friends we (2 adults) opted to try The Bar at 1720 for the first time. We arrived for our 7pm reservation and was seated right away. There were a couple of larger parties and a couple of 2-tops already seated. The tables are fairly small and cramped. It's hard to have a quiet conversation with everything so close and your neighbors 2 feet away hearing everything.
After we were seated we waited for 20 minutes with ZERO acknowledgement at we were there. The woman that seated us passed by us several times assisting other tables with drinks, food, etc. We were clearly sitting waiting for our water glasses to be filled, this didn't happen. We watched as she passed us a few times with a pitcher of water and never offered to fill our glasses. The bartender even assisted in serving drinks to the table next to us. It wasn't until I said something to the woman that we FINALLY were looked at. She did apologize and offered to buy a round of drinks, but in my mind the damage was already done.
We ordered their jumbo wings and they were decent. I ordered the Bourbon Onion Burger and my wife the Kielbasa Cheesesteak. My burger didn't appear to have any frizzled onions on it and the bourbon sauce was practically non-existent, plus it was overcooked. The fries were natural-cut and decent, but lacking in any sort of seasoning.
Speaking of seasoning, my wife's kielbasa cheesesteak was completely over seasoned. She said it was good, but way too salty. Again, same complaint with the fries and no seasoning on them at all.
Overall, we don't see ourselves returning...
Read moreWe went out for a date night based on the reviews. Actually, I was a bit hesitant because of the owner's responses to any negative reviews, which were quite off putting. On a weekend night we arrived and couldn't figure out how to get inside. I understood that the restaurant was part of the event space, but there was no signage pointing you to where that was specifically. We walked around the building and found the doors near the "open" sign were all locked. We eventually made it in and must have looked confused when we saw a few tables in a ballroom, not at all what we were expecting .We didn't find a hostess, just a woman who greeted us with "you good?". The atmosphere was uncomfortable (not really a restaurant, just a wedding place looking for business in the off season). A single waitress was running the whole show. I overheard her telling the table next to us how all the food is made from scratch. We waited for our scratch made food for over an hour and what I got was appalling, frozen, cafeteria quality food. It should not have been served in what they called an upscale restaurant. We were so disappointed and couldn't wait to leave. I was ashamed to have suggested it for our date. I debated writing this review, given how the owner seems to respond to reviews, but hopefully it can save a date...
Read moreHappy late Mother’s Day to all! I hope everyone enjoyed their day !
I really hate being this person but we celebrated our day at the bar at 1720 yesterday & it was mediocre at best. I’m not sure how long it’s been there, but my mom has always loved the location & the building & I saw they were having a Mother’s Day event & was ecstatic. There was 10 of us total & for the amount of money spent I would never recommend someone there (for a Sunday brunch at least). The venue is GORGEOUS, I immediately started imagining what types of events I could have there. But the staff, as well as the food, extremely disappointing. I understand everyone is fighting their own battles & im not sure what types of things the waitresses & servers may be dealing with so I tried to really be as kind as possible. But the food not being up to par did not help at all.
I am intrigued by their dinner menu & the reviews look great so I will absolutely be giving them a second chance over a nice dinner but it was unfortunate that was my first...
