China Garden — Restaurant in Chalfont

China Garden in the Chalfont Square Shopping Center is a typical example of a suburban Chinese take-out restaurant. The food isn’t great, but it does serve the need if you’re hankering for some Sesame Chicken or Pork Lo Mein. If it’s not the only Chinese take-out game in Chalfont, it’s one of the only; so you really can’t complain.

The storefront is clean if a bit cluttered. The woman covering the front counter and the phone manages the job deftly. The cooks are fast. The kitchen work space appears as clean as possible for the amount of activity happening.

If you call in to pick up they can take your payment information over the phone. This way you can walk in, pick up your order and go. Delivery is what you would expect, speed dependent upon how busy they are. They have yet to get an order wrong.

China Garden isn’t going to shock anyone with their take on standard Americanized Chinese fare, but they’re a reliable option if Americanized Chinese cuisine is what you’re in the mood for.

As a note: China Garden doesn’t have strong local competition, but if you’re looking for better and don’t mind a 20 minute drive, you could hit Wing Lee Cuisine on 611 in Horsham—by the shuttered US Air Base—or Ming’s on Old York...

Have been coming here for years and never disappoints. Their dumplings (they give many!) are so authentic and clearly homemade. Can’t find anything close to them anywhere else. The dough is so fresh and thick and they don't taste like potstickers you can get in the frozen section. Sometimes I consider making a meal out of their dumplings theyre that good! I hope they never change the recipe. The meat (pork) in it tastes fresh, is 100% meat (no filler crap), and there is a good amount! I also love how their lo mein is not saucy. The only thing I don’t like is the beef they use. It just tastes like fat to me. Maybe its a type of beef I am not familiar with and maybe its supposed to be like that… but I will just stick to veggie lo mein from now on. I love this place. Ive only been here a couple of times because I dont get take out all the time or chinese but their service is 100% amazing. They are very friendly and I was short some change and they covered it for me no problem and were patient with me using a bunch of change to purchase the food. (The food itself is pretty good, the meat in my food wasnt the best BUT I normally dont like meat I get from any chinese place, but im just picky with my meat too.)
