D.P. Dough — Restaurant in Champaign

Update: the last month the cheese is barely noticeable. I even ordered extra cheese mix the second time (times are tough!) but it wasn’t even honored. We tried one more time and it was still very disappointing. I get that things are expensive right now but I was open to just buying additional cheese mix and I STILL didn’t get any cheese.

Also, the fillings aren’t spread out anymore so you get a bite of just one filling and it’s nowhere else in the calzone; I had to open it up and move the stuff around, which was extra hard when everything was glued down with a fine layer of cheese instead of swimming in cheese mix. Major quality drop. Not worth it anymore.

Highly recommend using their app. They have their own delivery and the prices are better. If you use another service they will just deliver it anyway so you might as well. I don’t love that there isn’t a way to track the status of a delivery order from them but they’ve always arrived in the projected window or before so I just deal with it.

The food is delicious. I love cheese and I loathe that it’s so scarce on everything. Not here! Their ricotta/mozza mix is perfect. I’m not a fan of ricotta but it’s mixed well with the mozzarella so you don’t notice the texture of the ricotta, only the mozza.

Of all the places that put their ingredients inside a shell of dough this one is my favorite. You know what sets D.P. Dough apart from the food pocket competition? The second to none customer service. When you enter into this establishment you can be confident that they are going to provide your pizza pouch to you with a smile and not a single pejorative. For instance in my last outing to this beacon of hope in a bleak food envelope based landscape I placed my order over the cellular phone. Upon answering and taking my order the person on the end simply took my order and said thank you instead of taking the opportunity to insult my mother. When I came to pick up my gooshy gooey meat and cheese wallet the shopkeep simply took my payment and didn't call me a single slur. I was shocked and delighted by the interaction. Friends I have to tell you that when I dug into this divine delicacy I was greeted with one last surprise. Whoever had crafted the sustinance had imbuned it with a telepathic message. When I took my first bite I heard the voice of D.P. Dough himself telling me that he hoped I had a very nice day and that my hair looked pretty cool. I love this place-first and foremost because they actually offer vegetarian/vegan substitutes-that’s so rare, my people are actually accommodated for once haha. I wrote to corporate thanking them and mentioning our local DP for how awesome, efficient, and have such amazing employees. I have never had an interaction via phone or in person that was not great w this team. They really go out of their way, which is truly appreciated.

This place is awesome, I hope they continue to offer vegetarian/vegan options-the corporate response was very kind and happy to hear that the CU location goes above and beyond and always accommodates to those w diff diets. (I hope y’all were recognized for your amazing service bc you friggin deserve it )! Thank you guys for being so efficient, but chill and always giving great recommendations so I can try new things.
