this is easily the worst resturant in champaign. possibly the worst i've been to in my entire life. i have been a customer for well over 10 years. it used to be much better. when they opened more locations it just fell apart. they get my order wrong about half the time, even though i always order the same thing. they have forgetten to make my food for called ahead carry-out orders and not admited it, making me wait in the lobby while they keep saying its almost ready for a half hour. the reason i'm writting this review however, is they have given me almost comletely uncooked food a couple of times now. thats the last straw. el toro has no respect for their customers. i'm a quiet customer that even tips even on carry-out, and you gave me raw food. i hope the health department shuts el toro down, because they honestly don't deserve to do business...

Chips and salsa were provided. Each were replenished frequently and even with some fresh, hot chips! Salsa was slightly spicy but manageable for even a spice baby like me.
I had hot water and the fajitas lunch special. My partner had ice water and the lunch special #10 (quesadilla, enchilada and chalupa). Plenty of food per dish. The base with the fajitas were a little more salted than I would have liked, especially if not throughly mixed with everything else, so I wish more rice could be provided (besides just ordering a side of rice for a couple bucks). Otherwise, the food was enjoyable and your typical Mexican cuisine.
Restrooms: clean and well maintained

Read moreIt was my first time there and I didn’t have big expectations since Urbana area just doesn’t come off as an area where you could find good Mexican food. Then I ordered the al pastor plate and my wife the shrimp tacos. We still didn’t expect what we received. The food was spot on delicious and cooked correctly from the corn tortilla that they used to the flavors. The rice water was also very refreshing. I’m a Chicago boy and my parents are from Mexico I know good mex food and this place has it. I highly recommend this place if you’re...
