Lanxang Thai-Lao Cuisine is on par with the best of Thai-Lao cuisine in town. The interior atmosphere is more of a common take out restaurant, standard stacking cushioned chairs and faux wooden tables. So not a fancy ambience. But the food speaks for its self. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was well prepared, has authentic taste and is nicely presented. Very cute floral dinnerwear. , multiple spice levels are offered, I tried the Thia level, it is among the spiciest I have had in town. If you are looking more for the tamer side they will prepare it to your liking. I had the Green Curry with chicken. I find that is a good dish to compare to other places as it is pretty consistent in preparation. Wheras something like Pad Thai varies from family region and restaurant. I also had the spring rolls, you can choose from pork or shrimp. I did not see a combination option as that is how I am use to it. They were very large and fresh ingredients with a nice dipping sauce. Despite othere reviews, I did find the pricing to be pretty much the same for like offings in the community. Average meals in the 12.00 to 17.00 range and appetizers typically around 5 to 8. I would incourage anyone to give it a try! For dine in or take out. Some of the best Thai-Lao you will...
Read moreAMAZING service and food! This place is very clean and brings out your food so fast! I was dining in with my boyfriend and felt like I was right at home, the staff are so welcoming, attentive and kind.
The pho is always perfect with a rich and flavorful broth, all the fresh toppings and the bowl is huge for the price.
We decided to try the BBQ pork pad Thai this time and after over 20 years eating pad Thai from many different places, this is my new favorite ever and it’s in town!! It’s just THAT good and I day dream about this dish more that I’d like to admit lol
They also have a super awesome appetizer sampler that gives you some chicken satay, egg rolls and crab rangoon that I feel like is the best for 2-3 people. I always get it now.
Their Thai iced tea is what it’s supposed to be. It’s rich, not watered down and the same goes for their thai iced coffee. They even grabbed me a to go to take the rest with me.
Overall every time I get food from here I’m very satisfied with the fast service and the food is beyond flavorful. The prices are great too compared to others in town so this is my GO TO THAI FOOD SPOT...
Read moreEdit: July 2024 ownership changed, menu changed; many items no longer available, prices went up, interior decor is now lacking. Food was just average, not as good as it used to be and took much longer than normal. Dropping rating from my previous 5 star down to 3. Sad to see one of our favorite restaurants change for the worse.
Review for previous owner before July 2024: Solid thai food at a good price; good service. Plenty of different soups, appetizers, curries to choose from. Vegetarian options galore. If you're not accustomed to Thai or Lao levels of spice I strongly suggest sticking to a 1 out of 5 until you know your limits. $45 for 2 entrees and 2 sides; a feast for 2 people, enough food for 3 people.
Sticky Rice in Champaign may be slightly better food overall, but much longer waits, no free parking, and almost double the price, making Lanxang a great alternative.
To go order was fast, delicious, priced fairly, and well packaged. Couldn't ask for more. I'll...
