I give this place a four because it’s better than the majority of Mexican places near by. It pains me to say a large metro part of Arizona does t have any really great Mexican food.
This place is just average. I would never recommend driving across town to try it. It’s Cali influenced style. But saying that I was driving through California recently and stopped at an authentic place with a 4.5 and it 10x better.
Another issue is the coke machine is one of those fancy new 100 flavor machines and the soda tastes like medicine.
That being said most local Mexican places serve Pepsi with the exception of filbertos.
Baja Fresh and a meal deal for $10 which is cheaper than McDonald’s these days so that’s another reason for 4 stars when it’s just average
I would say the food is fresh so that’s another reason to give it a try. I certainly would never say filbertos...
Read moreBaja Fresh was fantastic! It's been a long time coming, but worth the wait! I went in for take-out. The food is cooked to order so it tasted very good. I chose a taco platter with one fish and one shrimp taco. The shrimps were a good size and they provided a generous proportion of them on my taco. Very good! My fish taco also had a good sized hunk of fish on it. My husband got a seasonal offering - the enchilada platter. I added a chicken taco soup as an appetizer. I'm not sure if that was also a seasonal offering, but it had a decent amount of chicken in the soup and came with little nacho strips to top it with. It was very tasty.
Oh, and the piece de resistance at Baja Fresh - the salsa bar!!! My husband loved the mango salsa and I thoroughly enjoyed the salsa Verde. It was a fresh salsa - which gives it a vibrant green...
Read moreLike a few others have mentioned, I have been a BF fan for years and was excited to see one come back to the area. Unfortunately, the taste and quality aren't as good as they were in the past. I had the shrimp burrito ultimo and the shrimp tasted boiled versus grilled and the salsa negra had a fake smoke taste versus the delicious chipotle flavor it used to have. I'll give them one more chance in a month or two, but I think it's just not the same now that they are owned by MTY.
UPDATE: I tried this location again, this time I had the ono burrito ultimo. The ono tasted very fresh and actually grilled and the salsa negra was much better than the batch I had last month. I've changed my rating from 3 to 4. Hopefully the improved...
