I'm from Tucson, visiting for a conference held on phoenix. We were interested in trying some good food in the area, but low and behold, we went to 3 restaurants (we stopped at Red kimchi Caribbean Palm and Pho Cao), before finding this treasure (and thank god we did, it was worth looking! even though we were sooo hungry) The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere. It was a million times better than the other places we had stopped by, it felt inviting, and VERY clean (HUGE thing for me, since being a server previously for some time). Gopi (I may have misspelled that sorry!) kindly explained everything to us there and was a excellent server as well as the other gentlemen. Man oh man the food there (which I suppose was norther india) was SOOOOOOOO good!! First thing you're asked is how you'd like your bread (I'm not sure what kind it was but it was flat, and we had garlic on it) The food is offered buffet style and you can order some stuff off of a menu as well; We did the buffet. It was very fresh, and extremely flavorful (though I didn't notice that the spicy foods were not noted! so ask before getting something if you don't like spicy [but why the hell would you eat indian if you don't like spicy, just saying.]). We also had a drink(it's non-alcoholic), a mangolassi (it was soo good. I wish I knew how this was made!)
I should point out that the buffet seems very small as opposed to usual chinese buffets or american buffets, but don't be discouraged. There were quite a few options on the small buffet table, that were all very VERY filling. I had tried a little bit of everything on one plate, and I couldn't quite finish, regardless of how hungry I was. (If we had gone to another buffet, I would have cleared 3 plates easy.) While you could argue that the dessert is a little lacking (like 2-3 options if that) they were very delicious as well but different! (try those donuts!) I think the mangolassi made up for what was missing personally. (though I don't have a fancy for a freak ton of sugary desserts)
That was my first visit. -We came back that weekend to get more even though we live 150 miles away-
Sadly we didn't get more of this delicious extremely cheap food... we were very sad, but we understood given the circumstances. First of all we arrived at 2:25pm, which they closed between lunch and dinner service at 2:30pm (But man they were so kind, they offered for us to come in and order off of the menu, but out of courtesy to the servers and staff we went to another restaurant.) . And second, that unfortunately their buffet table warmer had broken, and refused to serve food on a none heated table (Which I highly appreciated, because too often I find restaurants disregarding safety factors like food getting too cool/heated properly for the sake of making money). While this restaurant is very new, you should ABSOLUTELY TRY IT. I really really really hope this doesn't close down, where else would I go?!...
Read moreWe have ate here for Dinner many times, and just tried the Saturday buffet. Hands down... An absolute "MUST GO" kind of establishment. I am picky, no doubt. I do not hand out reviews and compliments unless one is well deserved; good or bad.
So, here we go!
The immediate engagement by the owners was perfect. They had and have no issue with sharing what is in, and how their food is prepared. My girlfriend is celiac and has to have a strict gluten free diet. We continually search for restaurants that are GF friendly. This is our home. On our first visit, I was so impressed with how patient and honest they were. I mean, we must have talked for about 30 minutes (before we ordered), as to what is safe and what to avoid and how they handle the food, and so on...every detail explained.
The table linens are fresh and clean. No stains! Glasses, spotless! The silverware, no doubt, clean. Presentation of the tables have a classy charm, too. Whether you are single or on a date, married, or have a big family, New India Gate makes you feel welcomed and important. If you get the opportunity to meet Manuel, you will feel like he is their speciffically only, for you. He is a true gentlemen and very attentive. He will remember your name and say hello to you everytime. His service is excellent!
The food, simply stated; INCREDIBLE!!! I have my favorites....I won't share them. You will have to discover yours, on your own.
New India Gate is one of Chandlers most prized treasures in the city. You will not be dissapointed.
Hope this review makes you want to dine there....I am so glad we found this place. Enjoy and...

First visit here and I wanted to be impressed because of the reviews.
First let me reiterate as others have the service and attentiveness of staff is impressive.
I am not sure if they were having a bad cooking day or the food prepped is normally made as described.
The galub jamun was very very dense, and not light inside at all. It was served cold instead of hot. Hot vs cold is a simple preference. The kheer was almost like a water consistency and had no tapioca and specks of rice here and there. The mango custard had good flavor and had a nice amount of mango pieces in it. The desserts are about 50% of why I like an Indian buffet. So this was extremely disappointing to say the least.
The tamarind chutney was excellent.
The tandoori chicken was very dry, one of the first times I have encountered this. Usually it is extremely moist and juicy with rich flavor depth. The onions with it were fantastic in flavor though.
I tried to enjoy the goat curry but I kept finding chips of bones throughout the gravy. If there is one thing I abhor it is having to reach into my mouth at a meal to pull out bad pieces of food or bone fragments. It wasn't just once but at least 3 times.
The chicken dishes were decent in flavor but again the sauces were a bit runny. The meat was tender.
The garlic naan bread was perfectly done, very light in texture.
The rice was pretty good. Overall the buffet price point reflects the product line they are able to offer. A restaurant isn't going to serve you items which are a huge profit loss because they would soon be out...
