Went for dine-in during lunch. Got there at about 11:50, line out the door. Line moved extremely slowly. I believe this is because most attention is being given to online orders, as each person at the register took about 5 min to have their order taken. Cashier would periodically leave for other tasks (busing the restaurant, serving food). Clearly, the recent write-up has led to a spike in popularity, and which has led to a lot of production pressures on short notice. I understand this, but it shouldn't take 30 minutes to take 6 peoples orders in line.
I ordered the beef shawarma, added fries and drink. Beef sharwarma is $9, adding fries and drink is $4. After 30 min wait in line (despite only about 6 people being in front of me), I waited 20min at a table for my food. It was good but underwhelming. Fries were incredible, but there were only about 15 of them. Beef shawarma was good, but very skinny; made me wonder if there was emergency portion control going on.
I'm guessing a lot of this is due to the recent surge in popularity. I totally understand that an independent business can't just immediately hire staff, and that buying double the amount of inventory is risky for a small business. I also admit that I don't understand how online ordering works, exactly. But I'm giving minus 1 star for the excessively long wait and due to prioritizing online orders. It was seriously incredible how few customers were being taken care of in-store. Minus one star for small portions and underwhelming shawarma (I seriously wonder if they're so busy now that they're shrinking their portions to make sure the inventory lasts through lunch).
I'd compare this to some of the incredibly popular casual places I've eaten, like Pat's Cheesesteak and Geno's in Philly, or Halal Guys in NYC, where there's a crazy long wait because the line is around the block, but the line moves fast, you pay a premium price for an incredibly popular food, and then you can't believe how good the food is and feel it's totally worth it.
I'll probably wait a couple of weeks for the popularity to die down and try again. I read through many reviews, and seems like the reviews prior to the write up are all 5 stars and the reviews after the write up...
Read moreI read a news article about Shawarma Supreme and my interest was immediately piqued. I spent over 3 years deployed to Iraq while I was in the Army and ate some amazing food, especially Shawarma. Unfortunately, when I've tried it at other restaurants ice been massively let down. That is most definitely NOT the case at Shawarma Supreme.
Walking in inwas immediately met with the amazing smells and warmth that brought back instant memories of wonderful food. The staff was incredible, and greeted us with smiles and an explanation of the menu. We settled on the Shawarma fries and Supreme plate. And happily sat down to wait.
We didn't have long to wait until we were brought red lentil soup, something i was unaware accompanied the meal, let me tell you I could eat JUST the soup every day. It's warm, inviting, comforting and that's coming from someone that doesn't like soup. It was absolutely spectacular. Our fries came out next and it was a MASSIVE plate. We devoured most of them before the main course arrived. The Supreme plate was incredible as well, but again a "side dish" stunned me. The turmeric rice just blew me away, adding depth and flavor to every bite that completed the experience in a way I'd not thought possible.
I'm so happy to have found Shawarma Supreme and we will be back soon and often. I love supporting local eateries ESPECIALLY when they have such amazing food.
Ps. I had wonderful conversations with several of the staff during our dinner and I haven't had such a huge smile on my face and a full belly at a restaurant in...
Read moreWe met the owner walking into the business and he was very friendly. I can guarantee you that the food here will not only fill you but also taste delicious.
My wife and I ended up having the Chicken Shawarma Plate that we shared, along with two lentil soups, stuffed grape leaves and the chicken shawarma wrap (to go)
The stuffed grape leaves were great, moist, very tasty and a great way to start the meal and experience.
The lentil soups were so creamy and seasoned well, just the right size to get you ready for the main course!
The shared Chicken Shawarma Plate was a big winner here. Not only were the portions large, the seasoned rice with turmeric I believe was delicious along with the salad and humus with pita. The real star of the fish was the chicken shawarma, it really was Supreme! The taste was unique to Iraq and very authentic.
The to go Chicken Shawarma Wrap ended up having a bite by my wife before we left the restaurant. She was in love with this and couldn’t believe how amazing the garlic sauce was, she wished she had two!
Finally something important for any restaurant, customer service. They went above and beyond to be friendly and inviting, the owner is an amazing person that truly cares about his business and the experience of the customers. He made it his mission to make sure we were welcome and happy with the food. We couldn’t ask for anything else and he went above and beyond.
5 stars we recommend Supreme Shawarma, think of them as the Supreme Court ...
