December Update... While our kitchen remodel is done, we still have lunch there about once a week. It seemed like the food was getting better for a while but the last couple of trips it has continued to go down hill. Tonight for example, there was no chicken in the 'chicken' noodle soup, and the salad dressings for both Strawberry salads were unusual in their appearance and tasted rancid. Unfortunately, I think it is time to find a new weekly treat.
Update...We have had Cafe Zupas the last 4 days in a row. I know this sounds insane but we are in the middle of a kitchen remodel but they have enough variety for those of us on diets and we love it. However, the last four trips every single order has been wrong. Disappointed in that fact otherwise we love the food. I had to lower the rating one more star because of it.
The food is great and mostly fresh. The staff has always been friendly. Most of our orders are carry out. They are typically on time with the exception of running out of one product which we had to wait to be made. My kids love the grilled cheese adding the ham. We did try the tender kids meal, however it was less than what we were expecting. Our kids just stick to the grilled cheese and chicken soup. Unfortunately, the one star is coming off due to the lack of attention to detail. Several times our order has been incorrect. I called the first time and received great service. It seems like every other time we go something is incorrect. It becomes a pain to have to call every time. We will be returning though, because we...
Read morePopped in with a friend who was raving about Zupas salads. I ordered the large Cobb. The girl accidentally made & dressed a small Cobb, so another employee hands her a stainless bowl, and literally 4-5 pieces of mixed greens were added, and transferred into the large bowl. Really?? Then the short parade of hideously MEAGER toppings were ever so carefully added. This salad was little more than a bowl full of mixed greens, 3-4 cherry tomato half’s, a tiny spoon of soy beans and feta, some tired looking avocado, no chicken, and a few flecks of bacon. This was the most pathetic salad I have ever seen in my life!!! It was almost like they made every effort to put as little on as was humanly possible!! $11 for a bowl of mixed greens??? That’s exactly what you get at this place! Ridiculous!!! If you’d like to see how pathetic this place is, at least order the small salad as the large bowl (of mixed greens) only has 4-5 pieces of greens more. I just took this hot mess to go!! Zupas mixed greens salad (disguised as a Cobb salad) shown below One, and done!! Horrible!! Salad & Go has this place beat hands down, and for half the price. This place is a penny-wise, and a dollar short. Don’t bother if you’re craving a REAL SALAD (or not in the mood to eat a bowl of...
Read moreWorst dining experience ever! First thing when I walked in was an employee who was blocking the doorway in order to explain the restaurant to people walking in. Not the worst idea, but when you block a point of egress to do it, that's a bad thing, like blatant disregard for fire code bad. Not to mention if you have such a progressive restaurant idea that it needs explaining to everyone walking through the door, your idea sucks.
Next complaint is the inordinate number of staff standing around. Are you curious why a slice of cheese and a slice of tomato on a chibata bun costs $9? They have to pay 10 people to not do anything. Seriously, I counted 10 people not doing a damn thing the entire time I was there.
Another complaint, do you like lemonade? Do you like lemonade made with lemons, sugar and water? Well, there are two lemonade dispensers, but if you aren't sure you want honey in it, you're just plain SOL.
Finally, the ambiance is only appealing to 15 year old girls. Seriously, unless you like listening to Avril Lavigne while in a dining area reminiscent of a hospital cafeteria, this place isn't for you.
Horrible food, horrible staff, horrible idea, horrible prices. That is as nice as I can be...
