My three unsatisfactory experieces attempting to order a shrimp entre at the Cheesecake Factory: 1)The first time I ordered Shrimp Scami I was astonished to find that the chef had left the entire shell of the shimp, breaded it on top and fried it. 2) my idea of Shrimp Scampi is that you remove the entire shrimp shell before cooking and cook them in butter, garlic and herbs. The shrimp are not battered over the entire shell and put in a fryer and topped with an unpleasant gooey cream sauce. 3)The second time I returned to the Cheesecake Factory my date asked if the shells on my scampi could be removed before breading and cooking. Our server said that the shells are already prepared to be fried with shells under the batter. This makes me wonder. Do people politely eat the entire shrmp shell and pretend that this unusually crunchy texture is normal or do the take both the breading and shells off before they eat the shrimp? 2) Being invited to the Cheesecake Factory a third time I was determined to see how I could order a shrimp entre that I could enjoy. I called a couple of hours ahead and spoke with a manager by phone. It was my impression that she would be there when I arrived.. But to my dismay this manager was not on duty. I tried to discuss what options or modifications could be made before joining my date at the table. Unfotunately despite effort I had made to have a shrimp entre that I could find ejoyable, this failed for the third time. My angel hair pasta was cold and the garlic butter sauce was watery and unappetizing. I was given about 6-7 rubbery salad size shrimp instead of the large sized dinner shrimp. Being that this was my third I found my Cheesecake Factory meal unsatisfactory, I expressed my dissatisfaction with our server. With an abrupt manner, she quicly removed my plate from the table. I was left with the sweetish tasting brown colored bread with butter which was good. Perhaps it is my mistake, trying to get a decent seafood meal at a restaurant with a desert name. I imagine their...
Read moreDisappointed with Cheesecake Factory’s Handling of a Frozen Cheesecake
We recently visited The Cheesecake Factory tonight March 16 at 8pm for dinner and we were looking forward to enjoying a slice of cheesecake. My party and I decided to share one, with me having the top portion and them having the sides. As we made our way to the middle, we realized the cheesecake was still frozen. At that point, I stopped eating it because it wasn’t that tasted eating frozen cheesecake and informed our waiter of the issue.
The waiter was polite and mentioned he would see what he could do—either removing it from our bill or offering us another slice. We were fine with either option, but he needed to run it by his manager. Unfortunately, it took about 10-15 minutes for him to locate a manager. That was horrible, where is a manager when you have a room full of customers? When he returned, he let us know the manager agreed to take the cheesecake off our bill but needed to take the cheesecake back.
I found this approach both unprofessional and disappointing. If the cheesecake was frozen, that’s a quality control issue on the restaurant’s end. You would think this is the best and most well-prepared part of the meal. While I appreciated having it removed from the bill, being told the slice had to be taken away—especially after we had already eaten part of it—felt unnecessary and frankly, wasteful. By the time we got home, it would have defrosted.
We didn’t want to take it home; we wanted to enjoy it during our night out. Instead, the solution offer was to toss it when there are so many people in need.
This experience left me feeling that better training and a more thoughtful approach to handling customer concerns would greatly improve the experience. It’s disappointing to see something handled so poorly, especially from a well-known establishment like The...
Read moreI decided to incorporate the Cheesecake Factory into surprise birthday plans I had made for my Fiancé! My Fiancé had never been to the Cheesecake Factory and I surprised him with a visit from his Mom (who lives out of town) and a few friends and family. I brought my soon to be Mother-in-law straight from the airport to the restaurant along with my children. I then left to pick up my Fiancé who thought we were just having dinner. I made two reservations to ensure we were all able to have a table to sit at. The rest of our party hadn’t arrived and yet our family that was present could all fit at one table. Instead we were asked to move more than once (3 times) and told once we ordered at table 2 we would need to be moved again and have to close out the ticket and pay before being moved to the next table. You would think other customers around us would have made us feel uncomfortable and had been the ones whispering and staring. Instead, this was the treatment we were receiving from the waitstaff. The treatment made it so uncomfortable to want to truly order and enjoy our time. Our Surprise celebration was not a good surprise at all. The one dish my fiancé was interested in trying he didn’t bother ordering. My autistic brother was preyed on by the waitress. What she didn’t realize was I was going to pay for both tickets. She rudely kept telling each person at the table what the ticket was for him and to give it back. My card was ran for a different amount. She stated that we were fine after I gave her an extra $25 as a tip. This morning, I get a notification that the amount was adjusted to a higher amount without my permission and no longer have the receipts. This left a horrible taste in my mouth and honestly made me feel like myself and family were in a whites only establishment and we didn’t...
