I went to crust yesterday with some friends & truthfully it was a poor experience for a multitude of reasons.
I’ve been to the ostrich (the bar below) many times & have always had a good experience with the bartender andrew normally taking care of us. I heard he’s no longer there. Disappointing.
For the first time, I went to the restaurant above the bar & I am extremely disappointed. I’ll start by saying, the place was empty so “busy” is not an excuse.
Waited 30 mins for someone to greet our table. By that time, a table for 4 opened up outside so we asked our waitress if we could sit out there since the weather was nice. She said no problem.
When we got outside, a waitress outside who never actually ended up serving us told us that we “snuck out there but it’s ok, she won’t hold it against us” in a attempted to be joking tone but it was pretty obvious that she wasn’t happy about it. The only other time she spoke to us was when I asked her for silverware which she never brought. She did however fulfill the same request for another table next to us.
Our food took a while, wasn’t cooked as good as normal, cold, appetizers & entrees came out at the same time, it was seemingly impossible to get a glass of water even though we asked 3 different people… at one point, I had to catch a guy walking by to ask for SILVERWARE & he didn’t even let me finish talking before he stormed off. My apologies guy! I didn’t know we were supposed to eat with our hands at crust. We asked that guy when he came back if he could get our server & he looked back & said, “she’s busy” & walked away.
By the way, our server was talking and laughing with another table for 30 minutes at least, only 6 feet away from us while he said that.
Never heard from our server until she brought the water I asked for literally (not figuratively) 30 minutes later.
At least she was very quick to get the check. Although, when she did bring the check, I asked for a to go box. She brought me a to go box but had never cleared a single plate off of our table the entire time we ate. I had no place to put the to go box & I signaled that to her,she looked confused & walked off.
I felt it was important I shared this story so that their leadership could understand how poor the service I received was. I left feeling upset because I gave a good tip as always when I really shouldn’t have. They should feel ashamed for the lack of effort they put in as it really stole the focus from a good night with friends.
I’ve probably left less than 5 bad reviews in my life....
Read moreOn 2/4/2020, I called in a phone order for pick-up for a pie. I explained to the lady on the phone that I've never been there but my daughter had and I sampled her slice she brought home and it was pretty good. The phone call was great and told I could pick up in 15 minutes. After 15, I went in and advised the nice server lady that I was there to pick up an order. She said to go to the bar and let them know and they would help me out. So I did. I saw the only person behind the bar talking to a couple. It looked like she was sampling different wines or the customer was having a flight of wines...not sure on that. I stood to the side of them and smiled at her when she turned her head to look at me and gave me this look like, "why are you here" or "why are you just standing there." There was this slight roll of the eyes and she turned her head back to the guy. Neither were drinking or even reaching for the glasses. They were talking about non-wine stuff so I really wasn't sure what was going on. I saw the server lady pick up some food and take to the few customers hanging out on the patio. (The place was empty as it was around 1pm on a Tuesday.) I stood there for about 5 minutes and it dawned on me that this "bartender" wasn't going to address me and I shouldn't have to make her acknowledge me as I'm the customer trying to buy a $24 pizza. So I slowly and I mean slowly walked through the restaurant and wondered if she or even the server lady would say anything. I stopped around the front door area so the server could see me and she just walked away so I walked out the front door and continued to slowly walk to my car. And nothing. So I left. No food for the family. No lunch. Just a bad experience of being the invisible customer. SMH. Even tweeted right away what happened and STILL not one single response from the Crust company. So terrible. We give a lot of business to Chandler local business, but Crust will not be...
Read moreVisited my family last week from NYC. My brother, an Army veteran, wanted to take my and my stepfather (who has advanced cancer) out for a nice dinner. He suggested Crust. Our poor experience began with a waitress who admitted she could not pronounce “Sauvignon Blanc.” She also did not order our two appetizers correctly. When I pointed out our bruschetta selection was wrong, all she said was “well I know I put it in right.” No apologies or corrections offered. Then, she came up to our table attempting to balance two glasses of red wine and a cocktail. My stepfather and I saw her clearly lean over to set the cocktail on the table as the two wine glasses tipped over, spilling across the table and onto our legs. We had seen it in time to avoid wine stains on our clothes, but by now I was mortified by the service. We went to the bar after that, as the wine was abandoned dripping onto the concrete floor. A person I presumed to be a manager simply joked about this incident, asking if we had sustained any casualties, which was very insensitive considering my brother is an Army veteran. He was unapologetic. The main courses were fine, nothing special. We were given a single glass of wine and a single beer for free, but were not offered any other compensation at all. For $123, this experience was awful. If this is how Crust treats Army veterans and cancer patients, then you can count on me never recommending this place to anyone. There are a wide variety of restaurants in the area so please take your...
