@JINYA Ramen Bar in Chandler it’s a great place to hit for lunch or dinner when you’re in the East valley! *An Unconventional Ramen Revelation In the labyrinth of this town, I stumbled upon a culinary rebel, Jinya 🍜 Bar, a place that dares to redefine the ramen experience. This isn't your traditional, solemn Japanese ramen joint; it's something else, something boldly unapologetic. *The Scene: The vibe here isn't about pristine minimalism or Zen-like calm. It's alive, pulsing with an energy that's as much a part of the meal as the food itself. You're greeted not just by the aromas but by a warmth that says, "Sit down, you're in for something different." *The Grub: - Ramen: This is where the magic happens. It's a bowl that doesn't just comfort; it challenges you. The broth, rich and robust, the meat, a testament to flavor mastery, and the noodles – oh, the choice of noodles – each a different path in this culinary adventure. - Steamed Buns: Decent, yes, but just the opening act. - Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna: Now we're talking. This dish, it's like a punk rock concert in your mouth – an explosion of textures and flavors that leaves you wanting more. - Corn Tempura: It's like discovering a new country. Familiar yet excitingly foreign. *The Downside: Parking? A nightmare. But then, all great quests have their dragons to slay. *Final Take: Jinya isn't just serving food; it's serving attitude, a narrative where each dish tells a story of culinary rebellion. It's not traditional Japanese ramen, and thank goodness for that. It's a reminder that sometimes the most unforgettable meals are the ones that break all the rules. *My server Jannessa was amazing.

This was my third time visiting Jinya and eating ramen. Having lived in Japan for over 15 years, I know my way around a good ramen. The first two times I went to Jinya, the ramen tasted great, and more importantly, the staff was very friendly and even tried using the traditional Japanese greetings to the customers. Based on my first two visits, I would have given Jinya 5 out of 5 stars, now I give it a 3. What is different? First off, the food looked and tasted different. I posted two pictures: the first picture was what the Jinya Tonkotsu Original 2010 looked like during my two visits in 2021. Notice the chashu is thick and decently sized. The soup is vibrant, thick and had a deep pork broth taste. The second picture was taken today, and is very different. The same ramen was ordered, but the chashu was smaller and not pleasant to look at. The soup was watery, darker in color, and the taste was off. More importantly was the attitude of the staff; no one was rude, but they definitely did not make you feel welcomed, no one even asked how the food tasted. I’m really not sure what happened in the past six months, but I probably will not be visiting again. It’s too bad because I highly recommended them before, but now I will not. I’m going to have to start searching for a new authentic Japanese ramen shop.

I've dined in here five times, all prior experiences were pretty good and this why this is being left as 2 stars instead of one. Last night (11/5/2022) was horrible.

I got put on a wait list for two people around 7:44, no problem, and I get my text the table is ready at 8:08. I go to check in and the hostess says the table is just getting wiped down, nbd. She then comes back and asks if I'm there with a 9 top, I said no it's just two. She walks around lost/confused to come back a minute later and ask me again if I'm with a 9 top, and I again said no it's just us two. After standing around for 6 more minutes while she tells a few of the staff she can't find the 9 top she again approaches me to ask if I'm with the 9 top, keep in mind I haven't moved an inch. I ask her if my table for two is ready and she said she doesn't know so I see a couple seats at the bar and just decide to take those. That would prove to also be a mistake.

We get to the bar and after sitting for a few minutes one of the bar tenders asks for our drink order and comes to wipe off the bar top, this would be where any sort of decent service ends. Our drinks are made and set on the bar, but not a word was said to ask if we wanted an appetizer or to order. She just spun around to go do something else, luckily I was able to get her attention and put in an appetizer order. The first appetizer shows up quickly, however there we are sitting with no utensils, small plates, or anything. It takes another few minutes to get her attention to ask for utensils, so she grabs us small plates and chop sticks. As we're eating, the second appetizer (gyoza) come out. Normally there are little sauce bowls out and available. I again have to wait and eventually waive my hand in the air to get her attention to request the sauce bowls. At this time I also decide to put in our ramen order.

Our ramen comes out and it was the skimpiest bowl of ramen I've ever seen with the bowl half full at best, my guests bowl was the normal full size portion, but back to me having to request items. I take the first bite of noodles while I waited for the bar tender to look my direction, as next I had to waive her down to get soup spoons. At this point I'm beyond annoyed and don't even want to bother with asking about receiving only a half bowl of soup, I just want to eat and leave. Finally we have everything to eat and finish our meal, as a hint we are done, I push my ramen bowl away toward the bar and neatly stack our app and side plates. Again I'm stuck waiting, this time 10 minutes just to request the check.

There were two bar tenders and 6 total patrons at the bar including us while we were there, one of the bussers was handling the dishes and filing the dishwasher. The bar tenders made their drinks as expected, however, one of them spent more energy focused on filling water pitchers and talking to "regulars" rather than providing decent service. It's unfortunate to such a poor experience compared to multiple other good...

I’ve been to JINYA Ramen on multiple occasions. I’ve never had a bad experience. I enter hungry, and I leave satisfied.

I enjoy the Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen; however, the Impossible Mini Tacos are always the highlight of my meal. So much so, I gathered two of my friends for a birthday celebration on Wednesday, 7/17. I spoke of these Tacos throughout the day, informing my friends that I would be treating myself to two orders, rather than my usual one.

On arrival, we were greeted by the Hostess and sat rapidly. A good start. Our server greeted us and we are provided with our drinks shortly after. All is well. When it comes to the food order, my friend orders a Salmon taco and I move forward with ordering my two Impossible Tacos (alongside Ramen, naturally).

A short time later, our server brings three orders of the Salmon Tacos to the table. We note that a mistake or miscommunication was made, and patiently waited to see her and correct the error. At this time, my friend kindly waves her over and I state, “Hi, I’m sorry, but I ordered the Impossible Tacos.”

Immediately, this server becomes irate. She loudly claims, “You ordered the salmon.” Her tone left myself, and the others at the table, speechless. Eventually, she asks if I would like the Impossible Tacos instead. Yes, because that is what I ordered. She leaves the table and we are in shock, left speechless by her unwarranted and abrasive behavior.

First off, I would not order the Salmon Tacos. I have been Vegetarian for seven years, and would not make that kind of mistake. Plus, I had two witnesses who confirmed my order (that I had been excitedly talking about the entire day.) On the off chance I did order inaccurately, the way this server spoke to us was unacceptable.

All at the table have worked in the service industry, and are very understanding of any missteps that can happen while working a busy night. We are always polite, leave a 25-30% tip, and stack our plates at the end of the meal. We know what it is like to be “in the weeds,” but we do not tolerate unkind treatment.

Tonight was a first. After our exchange, the server did not return to our table until much later, when we asked for the check. We wanted to leave as quickly as possible.

To our server, I wish we looked at our receipt so I could name you personally. But if you are reading this, you know who you are. You ruined my birthday dinner.

Oh, forgot to mention. The last time my friend was here, a cockroach crawled on to her table. She still tipped 25%. You are worse than the roach.

Two stars for the two orders of Impossible Tacos I...

I'm having a very difficult time with this experience because I have been before and the food was great. With that being said, the staff was extremely rude in trying to make accommodations for our party. I called the restaurant on Tuesday asking about a larger party to eat on Saturday night. Knowing that it would be crazy busy I was trying to see if this would even be an option for us. The staff member I spoke to on Tuesday told me they don't take reservations (which I was okay with choosing another place) but reassured me that if I were to just call an hour before the party was going to show up they would be happy to accommodate me.

Yesterday we tried to call two hours beforehand, we heard the voice-mail message that stated,

"We do not answer our phone between the days of Friday and Monday because of the busy nature of our restaurant. If you have a party larger then 6, please call between Monday thru Thursday and speak to a manager about accommodating your party"

I was frustrated and immediately rushed over to the restaurant because we did not have a backup plan because of what we were told when we called on Tuesday. I informed the hostess of our situation and she scoffed at me and told me that there was nothing she could do, and was very rude about it. I put our names on the waitlist and also stated that we were very okay with splitting our party into two or three groups so we could all eat in a reasonable amount of time. We waited for over 3 hours, over an hour on the list being in the first place position. I frequently walked to the hostess and explained that we were still okay with our party being split while she continued to take other smaller parties instead of ours stating she'd rather keep us together.

We never got sat, even though we waited so patiently and took many other avenues to not be in this situation. If you cannot accommodate this sort of thing, your voice-mail message needs to be changed immediately and your staff needs to be properly trained on how to speak to customer and not make promises they cannot keep so you do not continue to waste the time of customers that enjoyed your...
