This is gonna be a long one! Years ago (6 or so, before it went to the current owner), this place was one of our regular spots and was a blast any day of the week. These days, not so much. It completely lacks any sort of warmth or approachability whatsoever.
Around 7pm on Thursday, the night of the final NBA Golden State/Toronto playoffs game, it wasn't at all busy, just a handful of people scattered throughout. We sat at the bar and there were three guy bartenders working, but we didn't even get a greeting for close to five minutes. That's an eternity! When we did get our drink order in, it was awkward because one of the other guys almost immediately walked up and asked if we were all set. So close in time that it was almost funny and we wondered if it was a joke but no, they just seemed completely oblivious to each other.
We got another round, then awhile later decided we wanted to finish watching the game, so we were debating ordering food and decided to have a third drink also. One bartender was pouring interesting-looking shots in front of us and I asked what it was. He actually poured a tiny sample for me to taste, which I was impressed by, but then....he never followed up. How do you, as that bartender, not come back and ask if I liked it/wanted to order?! He literally never came back over or even made eye contact, so I never got the opportunity to order another round or food. We eventually (with long-empty drinks in front of us) had to flag down another bartender to close us out. No kidding, after about five minutes, that same guy came and asked us if we were all set, did we need anything else. I'm certain our jaws were hanging open! My date, one of the nicest guys out there, made sure to mention that we had already asked for our check.
One other thing, about some of the current 'decor.' Murphy's was a cool place, with the fun Irish signs and dollar bills everywhere. WHY are those ugly TV screens with beer menus up in multiple places?! It looks cheap and totally does not fit; it comes across as a very confused bar/restaurant, likely accounting for a big part of the lack of vibe.
The silver lining was the band playing that evening. They played all the best classic bar covers, from 'Hey Jealousy' and 'Brown Eyed Girl' to 'Wonderwall.' Solid and fun.
I absolutely adore downtown Chandler (honest, check out my other reviews!) and it pains me to leave this review, but Murphy's has some...
Read more4 of us went last Saturday afternoon for a beer. It was kind of busy but not crazy. The sign said seat yourself. First thing we noticed when we found table was the music was so loud you had to shout to talk. We decided to relocate outside where we waited what seemed like a long time for a waitress/waiter. Finally after several employees walked past us a young man asked if we had been helped. I told him no and he took our order. One of the ladies in our group asked for a water with her beer order my friend wanted a specific seltzer. He was gone for awhile and then brought us our beers but no water or seltzer. He told my friend they didn't have the brand he asked for but he would have our waitress check on what would be a alternative. So apparently he's no longer going to help us and we now are on our own again. I reminded him we still needed a water please. Another 10-15 minutes goes by and still no water or seltzer or waitress. By now I'm irritated so I stop another employee and ask if she can get us the rest of order. She acts like she's surprised that this is happening and returns with a seltzer but still no water. I guess you can't get a water at this restaurant. We are pretty much finished with our beers but my friend is just starting to drink his seltzer. He says he will hurry and I told him not rush we'll wait for him to enjoy it. So another 10 minutes or so go by and "our waitress has still never appeared as we want our check as we are ready to leave. I had to stop another employee as they walked past us and ask for our check. We laughed how we could have just got up and walked away and no one would have ever noticed. She returns with our check and I proceed to tell her that was the worst service I have had at pub/restaurant in a really long time. She did apologize for their poor performance. Needless to say no tip was left for our phantom waitress we...

The good and the bad, the good, the bourbon wings and the peanut butter shots were amazing.
The bad, I first ordered a double tequila mule and it came in a Mason jar glass and it tasted like it had zero tequila in it. I politely asked the server to have the bartender remake it, and that it tasted like only ginger beer. She kindly took the drink back and had a remade but it didn't taste any different. I finished that one anyway because I didn't want to complain again and the next one I ordered I asked for in a short rocks glass thinking it would be less ginger beer and lime juice and I would be able to actually taste the tequila, no good on that one either. It was like the bartender used very little ice just to make room for the ginger beer, I could taste the tequila but just barely, it definitely didn't seem like a double in a short glass. We left after that drink and on the way out I asked the door person if I could speak to a gm, they said the gm was out and that the night manager was working behind the bar so at that point I figured they were the ones probably making my drink so I said to the door person to just maybe relay the message to whoever may be interested. I told them I didn't want my money back or nor did I want any kind of resolution I just thought that management would like to know the situation. The door person said that they would relay the message although I highly doubt that they did. The moral of the story I guess is, don't order a Mexican mule, especially don't order and pay...
