Gave 4 stars because the service was quick and friendly! Some of the food was surprisingly not good. Of all the types of food I like, I choose Vietnamese the most. I LOVE Vietnamese food and have my entire life. I was super excited to try this place especially after reading the reviews and the recommendation from my dentist! Came out to dinner for my birthday with the kids.
When you walk in, you’re greeted with a tablet to sign in and join the waitlist for a table. Super smart! No need for a hostess! You’re then instructed to wait outside because there is no inside waiting area. In Phoenix heat this could be problematic but the evening was mild and we were seated after waiting only 20 mins.
One of my favorite go to entrees is grilled pork vermicelli. I ordered that, my daughters had Beef Pho and hubby had Kung Pao chicken. The Beef Pho was phenomenal. The broth was super tasty and the noodles were cooked perfectly! Would come back to try that again since I just had a taste of my daughter’s soup. The Kung Po chicken was the star dish of the table. The quality of the food was good, the presentation was nice but the appetizers and my dish had no flavor. Vermicelli looked nice but was not good. The grilled pork was chewy and dry and the shrimp was overcooked and hard. The fried calamari tasted like fish sticks and the grilled pork and shrimp spring rolls were chewy and bland. Price was high for a small bowl of Pho. Should’ve been more around $9/10 and it was $17. Glad we came to try it but wouldn’t put this top of the list of Vietnamese places to try again. I did get a free drink of my choice for my bday! Got a Vietnamese coffee that was out of this world! Soo good! Overall...
Read moreI don't normally leave reviews, however after hearing my friend recommend this restaurant and seeing the rave reviews I had to try it out. I was excited and hopeful for a new place to enjoy pho. Unfortunately my experience was terrible. I ordered the Pho Tai (beef)...the plate of fresh basil came out and was covered in little white bugs. I let them know and they replaced it with the same sprig of basil that was now wet...however STILL had the BUGS all over it! So I obviously didn't put them in my soup so I proceeded to try it without. The broth was VERY bland...I had to add all of the condiments on the table just to give it flavor, which made it only slightly tolerable. My son ordered the shrimp fried rice. It was served cold, dry and also flavorless. I had to add soy sauce just to make it moist and slightly edible. My friend ordered the seafood pho, the crab in the soup is served IN THE SHELL, so he had to pick them out, crack it open (no tools supplied), then put the meat back in the soup. His soup was also VERY bland. The only good part of our visit was the wait staff, they were very nice and attentive. I feel bad for leaving a poor review, but after spending $50 on lunch (no they didn't offer to comp any food due to bugs) and all 3 of us leaving hungry, we will definitely not be returning. Very...
Read moreI have eaten here twice. Good Pho is hard to find. I was disappointed the first time so I gave them a second chance because of all the reviews claiming that this pho was good! It’s not, in fact it’s below average. Let’s start with the broth or in this case hot water — yeah their broth was so weak, thin and flavorless that it might have been just hot water with bullion. The meat had so much fat and gristle that there really wasn’t that much meat. The basil was a single branch of leaves and no cilantro at all. They provided a single packet of Hoisin sauce and a single packet of sriracha sauce. The noodles tasted old and tough. And that was the good part. I also ordered spring rolls and in this case the “rolls” were more like a giant log of noodles wrapped in rice paper very little pork meat, no shrimp, no mint, with a small decoration of some flavorless green leaf like thing, with some bad peanut like sauce for dipping. The staff were warm, polite and professional — extremely nice people so much so that I want to like this place but their chef needs to really work on...
