upon arriving at this place, i wasn't entirely impressed. With it being located in a strip mall, not a lot of advertising on the outside, I was skeptical.
upon entering, I was blown away. The entire place had sports memorabilia scattered all over the walls, tv's with the game on. An absolute shocker for a sports bar. Bartender was super friendly and greeted me as soon as I sat down. A true hole in the wall gem.
Intrigued about the wings I asked her about the sauces, which she was very knowledgeable and gave me the low down on her favorites, and which ones were the hottest.
Now the wings, let me start of with a slight preface. I am what one would call a hot sauce aficionado. My daily sauce of choice is the last dab, if you don't know, it makes some of the most famous celebrities' cry like little babies. check out Hot Ones on YouTube.
On to my happy little accident. I asked for the HOTTEST sauce on the menu. The bartender told me it was the HHH, the cook was out getting water and overheard our conversation. He said it was hotter than anything he as ever tried.
GAME ON!
or so I thought. The wings came out looking delicious and overly sauced. I took one bite and my mouth felt like I had poured gasoline down my gullet and lit a match. IT F**N HURT, but I couldn't stop. The sauce blends both insanity and decadence into one excruciating experience. I continued to devour the last 5 wings, hurting and hating myself along the way. Even going to great lengths of licking my fingers. Sweat pouring, nose running, hiccups on full blast, i do not regret my decision one single bit.
I must say Kudos to the evil mastermind behind that sauce creation, It was one of the best hot wings i have ever had. Even though my trip to Arizona will be short lived, I will make the great pilgrimage to pain before I...
Read moreMy wife and I were in town visiting friends last night for the first time in several years. We looked what place around was doing Kareoke in town. We found Sawtooth Bar and Grill and even called ahead of time to confirm they were doing Kareoke. We excitedly show up and walk in and immediately get shamed by the MC. We weren’t given any direction on where to sit or masks and hear over the microphone from the person running the Kareoke say “you must be wearing a mask at all times until you are seated”. We looked up and the whole bar was staring at us. We had masks in our pockets and 2/4 hadn’t put them on on accident. We would have been more than happy to put them on with just a simple “welcome! Would you please put your masks on until you are seated”. That would have gone a long way however now we felt singled out and shunned. We decide to cancel our drink order and leave. While we walked out of the bar several tables clapped for us leaving?! Why?! Never have I been so offended from a place that I was wanting to pay money to. We were about to leave in our Uber and I decide to walk back in and ask to speak with the manager to let her know that they should fix this. I’ve been in retail management (customer service) for 16+ years. The owner was sitting near the front with her girlfriend watching the whole thing happen and didn’t even say a word until I asked to speak with her outside. I told her we were there to spend a nice amount of money and that she never knows who is walking in her bar. I said this because the friend I was visiting is one of the most respected and most connected construction contractor/builder in the city and could easily have this place shut down with a simple phone call. Long story short I would advise everyone to stay away from this place. Horrible management and...
Read moreI’ll start off by saying I’ve never gone to Sawtooth for the hospitality or customer service. They are not very welcoming, nor do they go above and beyond to serve you. After speaking to the owner a few times, it makes perfect sense. She’s quite angry and unpleasant, and that is the environment she promotes. Every time we’ve gone in, my wife and I say we’re never going back, however, there is one item on the menu that we crave from time to time. Sunday we had that craving, unfortunately the kitchens execution was lacking. Most of our food came out burned and over fried. After mentioning that the food looked burned the server told us that’s just the look the batter takes on after being fried, since there is sugar in the breading. Seems reasonable and makes sense, but they were in fact burnt. Like I said we have ordered these many times and these were pretty much inedible. My sisters boneless wings were also burnt and they do not have that breading on them. After mentioning it to the server again, she went and talked to the owner. She came back to tell us that Shelly would not do anything for us, because that’s just how they are. Again…I’ve had these many times, and it’s not how they are. If Shelly would have made any effort to come over to the table and acknowledge us, she may have thought differently. Instead she sent her poor server back to deliver the news. I didn’t want anything for free, but maybe some more food that was properly cooked. No initiative to remedy the situation was taken, and we left hungry. My expectations were not set very high, but damn, Shelly really drops the ball in every aspect of...
