Wanted to try this ever since we first saw the sign for a new restaurant coming. The menu is great - there's so many good options for everyone. We had the cheese Rangoons and takoyaki for appetizers. The rangoons came with a sweet chili dipping sauce. The sauce was sweet and garlic-forward, with a nice chili profile, and it paired well with the flavors of the rangoons. My wife had the takoyaki and had only good things to say about it (it does come out fresh though, so mind you don't burn your mouth )
We ordered siu mai and the pork soup dumplings. It was our first time having siu mai, and we thought it was great! The soup dumplings were delicious - we've had them from several places but these were probably our favorite.
I had the orange chicken wok entree (comes with broccoli & steamed rice) and I loved it. The sauce was not orange-forward and so wasn't as sweet as I was expecting, and I mean that in the best way! You can taste the garlic chunks in their sauces, and I really appreciated the depth of flavor you get overall. Even the leftovers were good.
My wife got the crispy pork bbq plate (this is specifically katsu). It does not come with any kind of sauce (the house salad is just a pile of good quality greens/ spring mix). She thought it was a little one note but otherwise really liked the pork- even hours after, it was still crispy. The egg was cooked in a mold so it's a thick disk that sits on top the steamed rice. She really enjoyed every aspect of the plate.
Our food did come out individually, we only got our appetizers at the same time, but it wasn't as long as previous reviewers dealt with, so it seems they've improved this. Everything we ate tasted like it just finished cooking and was delivered immediately. I too prefer getting all entrees at the same time, but it makes sense here with how everything seems to be delivered to table almost as soon as it's done. Everything was hot and fresh and so flavorful.
Also, if you drink fountain soda you know it tastes different depending on where you get it from, and even their Dr Pepper was good.
We will be going back and are anxious to do so. There's so much more menu...
Read moreWe were so excited when we first saw the sign go up that they were opening. However, we cannot recommend anyone going there until either they get new cooks or Management. We noticed way too many people having the same issues we had.
The fried rice came out first, before the meal. I waited for a couple minutes, as I wanted to eat it with my meal. I noticed others were doing the same. I finished my fried rice and then my wife’s meal arrived. Then 5 to 10 minutes later my meal arrived. My first bite and it was tepid. How’s that possible? Unless either they got it confused with another table or it sat waiting. When the waitress returned to drop off another tables order, I nicely mention that my meal is cold. She apologized and took it back to the kitchen. Then to my surprise, I heard the lady at the other table ask everyone else at her table if their food was hot. Turns out that her meal was cold too. The waitress came back and the lady complained just as I had. A few minutes and my meal arrived, and I could tell it was hot however it was not freshly cooked. How can I tell? Do you know what happens when you microwave a battered dish? Yes, it turns rubbery.
The waitress noticed I only ate a few bites, apologized and told me my meal is free. Sorry, not good enough. What she or her manager should’ve done was go back to the kitchen, chastise the cook for reheating the dish in the microwave, and tell him to make a new/fresh one for me.
Their prices were higher than the average, so I expected a lot better. Also, skip the bao. It had at most a teaspoon of meat in it, so was mostly dough. Don’t know if we will ever go back and give them another try in a couple of months or not. This is definitely one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had...
Read moreTop One Hot Pot & Asian Cuisine Is an enjoyable and great place to dine! The food is made fresh and is delicious! I go there often because the atmosphere is very nice and I get treated well. Great food, excellent and friendly service. They bring you a bottle of cold water to start and have other awesome drinks. When I go, I often start with some great appetizers like the chicken eggrolls, Beef Bao, and more. The main dish that I order is usually one of the mini hot pots, which in reality aren't small at all. They were my favorite, but now since they added a whole new menu, it is really hard to decide. The stir fried udon caught my eye, so I tried that with chicken, but you get to choose chicken, beef, shrimp or vegetable. I really love the taste! My wife was with me, so we ordered other dishes to share. The Thai curry caught our attention as well. They offer Yellow, Red, or Green Thai curry. With some help from our very friendly waitress, we decided to order the Green. Just like the Udon stir fry, you have the choice of chicken, beef, shrimp or vegetables. We tried the beef. We loved the Green Thai curry. The flavor was robust even over the white rice they served with it. Without a doubt, it was a home run! We definitely have to go back soon to try the new homemade dumplings and many other items on the menu that looked enticing! Too much to name, so I will add some pics of the menu I took. Great food, great service, and a very nice atmosphere. I highly recommend everyone try out Top One Hot Pot & Asian Cuisine! I know I'll be bring my family and...
