Restaurant Review: Delicious, Warm, and… Financially Devastating
The food here is absolutely delicious, and the service is warm and attentive. The only downside is the price — but to be fair, that’s not really the restaurant’s fault... I’m just broke.
The yakitori skewers were the highlight of the meal — flavorful, juicy, and perfectly grilled. If I ever come back, I’ll definitely order two servings.
The seafood pancake was also great, especially with the addition of bonito flakes. If the kitchen forgets to add them, make sure to ask — after all, it’s a $28 dish. The pancake is about 12 inches wide, with around 6 inches in the center that actually have seafood — mostly bits of squid and small shrimp.
The tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) was over $20, which felt a bit overpriced considering it’s basically just eggs — with some chopped onion mixed in for texture and flavor, but still.
The two of us (two women) spent $82 before tip and were left with half a pancake by the end. If, like me, you find this place a bit too expensive, you can go for the $70 set meal for two. Just know that you’ll be giving up your freedom to choose dishes — the chef decides what you eat.
If you want to keep your freedom, you’ll just have to pay the price — literally.
One last thing: there’s a karaoke room inside the restaurant, and the door was frequently left open as staff and guests came and went. The off-key singing drifting into the dining area was a bit distracting and did affect the...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to go to this place last min after another restaurant had a 2 hr wait time. We were all pretty excited due to the ratings went in got seated everything seemed pretty normal and the aestics inside was nice then we got our menus and ordered my friend got pork Ramen and my other friend got chicken karage and shrimp tempura. They got there food relatively quick and started digging in me on the other hand I ordered sashimi combination and this is where the experience started going downhill. My friend with the Ramen said it was nothing special and felt like he couldve made the same Ramen at home my friend with the chicken karage had skimpped sauce and the karage was very mediocre if not bad. My sashimi didnt even come out until all my friends were done with their plates. And even then it still didnt come out once it finally did I was not impressed the sashimi just did not look or taste right . Idk if this night was just a bad day but honestly we felt the experience was terrible and a waste of money. The shrimp tempura was soggy and not crunchy overall the food served was just not good . On top of that they had their ac blowing to the max it was so cold. We prob won't come back just due to the food the only nice thing that happened was the waiter gave me a free soda because I had finished my first soda long before my plate...
Read moreI seldom write reviews on here, but my experience at Starry Night was worth it. It’s a newly opened place.
They are open late, which is awesome because I regularly stay at a hotel nearby and this night I had some bad jet lag. I happened in there right before they closed for the night.
They have a solid menu—I asked the bartender what she recommended and she suggested the Spicy Pork belly.
The spice blend was great—you could taste the pepper, the green onion, was not overly salty, and the meat was cooked perfectly. Portion was perfect sized as an entree for one. Turns out I each dish is made to order and this was the chef’s family recipe.
Will absolutely return. Only feedback is the price point is a little high BUT you’re getting what you pay for. The quality of the food makes...
