I had my first visit at an At Home store yesterday, and I was quite impressed. It is absolutely gigantic and well stocked. I went in there looking for something very specific which I couldn't find, but on my search for this item I was impressed by other things that they have. I don't know that I've ever seen such an array of laundry baskets before. I did leave empty-handed, but I will be back for décor needs. Also, one thing that is very important to me is bathrooms. The bathroom here is spotless and modern! It was surprisingly nice, and I love that. Edit: I've been back 3 or 4 times now, and the times where I have bought something I find the check out line moves painstakingly slow. One time I was there on a Saturday afternoon which is arguably the busiest time at any store, and on top of that I saw a sign that said only 3 registers were working at the time. I consider myself to be patient, especially in checkout lines because I have worked registers before as a teen. This incident was fine and was in no way negative. However, today.. I find it hard to excuse the wait. I was here on a Wednesday at 1pm waiting in the check out line. There were maybe about 8 people in front of me. They had 2 people checking out, and I somehow still managed to wait in line for 30 minutes. I'm not over exaggerating. It was really bad, and I found my patience being tested. It was far worse than the Saturday with IT issues. The lady in line behind me was furious, asked an employee to have someone else come up front to check out, and the lady behind me eventually walked out because she was so tired of waiting. I understand that sometimes things happen so I don't like jumping to conclusions or getting angry, but I do expect the employee checking me out to acknowledge that I waited for an obscene amount of time and say something like, "I'm sorry for the wait." That's just basic customer service skills. But there was zero acknowledgement of the situation. It very much made me feel like they do not value their customer's time. Not to mention that when I first entered the store, employees were standing around talking loudly and laughing, and clearly not working. Employees need more training if they are to keep people...

Read moreAt Home is the next, if not the best thing since Home Goods or other popular furniture store. It is really hard to compare it with popular stores because quite a few are closing down or going bankrupt due to the economy. However, I have passed this store on many occasions because it is out of way and off the main road behind. In any case, I went to check out this store, and I was impressed, especially with their holiday and seasonal displays . Halloween is around the corner, so as you can see that we're staged for the customer experience . But even if you look past that, I found their office furniture and bedroom sets pretty reasonably priced. I mean, I almost walked with a barstool for my office because the style and price were incredibly reasonable, but I restrained myself from impulse purchasing that day although I can't say the next time I will resist. The layout is open and very easy to navigate. The pictures, portrait, and wall hangings section were huge and worth looking into. Overall, I was impressed this local furniture store had si muc 1h to provide and the welcoming atmosphere in the store and the staff. At Home is a smaller version of Walmart, in my humble opinion, except without the food and healthcare sections. Pay them a visit you...
