I worked at a McDonald's location in my hometown for two years, and never have I seen such a level of mismanagement. I'm currently in Charleston on vacation, and my sister and I walked over from the nearby Holiday Inn to grab a quick bite to eat for us and the rest of the family. The girl who took our order was new, but polite, and when she messed up our order it wasn't the end of the world -- or so I thought.
Our order was taken wrong, which could have been because of her being unfamiliar with the order-taking system (it does get complicated sometimes, I gotta say), but again! No problem, I was in no rush. She called the manager (or the woman I assumed was the manager) over from a table with five other employees who were all, I think, on break at the same time. We had not received our food yet, as I had realized the order was wrong before it got that far. But no problem! I assumed, as we had done this at my McDonald's location, that the manager would simply refund my money and I would replace my order -- to get it done correctly.
The manager barely glanced at the order that had been placed and paid for, and asked me what my intended order had been. I told her, and she proceeded to begin a very fast, very complicated solution to the problem by attempting to "fill in the blanks" aka just make another order with what was missing. I could barely understand what she was saying.
When I attempted to correct her on my order, as she was ordering me small fries and I had asked for a medium, she held up her hand to stop me from speaking. I didn't speak, and let her finish. By the time she ended her "solution" to our problem, it was $18 -- tacked onto our $14 (wrong) order. When I expressed concern that this was more than it ought to have been had my order been taken correctly, I was rudely told I was wrong and that this way was cheaper (spoiler: it wasn't).
This was when I calmly asked for a refund. She seemed frustrated with this (understandable, it's never fun to have to refund something) and stomped off to get one of the other managers to do it, as she could not. The two of them argued for a bit, with a bit of cursing, and we were told to stand off to the side for about ten minutes while the other manager came to refund our money.
Eventually, I got my refund and went to the Hardee's just up the street. This is the worst McDonald's I've ever been to, and thankfully I'll never have...
Read moreOK I get it it's McDonald's why review it right? Well these ladies that run this establishment gave me plenty of reasons to. Let me brag on these beautiful and hardworking African American women. Most people have criticized others for working at "dead end" jobs like McDonald's and I get it it's not a perfect job or the most glamorous. However, to me this job is far from dead end because these women are serving other food and we all gotta eat so to me this makes the world go round which sounds the opposite of a dead end job atleast in my opinion. So these women were BEYOND kind, professional, considerate, empathetic, non-judgemental, & actually some of the few people left in this world who willing can do a job with a kindhearted smile on their faces. I was in a position where life happened right? I messed up my budget and a bill came out of my account and I had ordered food not knowing now there wasn't any money left on my debit card. So I get to the checkout window before I get my food and of course the cards declines and I'm completely embarrassed but also confused because I thought I had money on it. These sweet ladies didn't judge me, they weren't frustrated with me, they understood and after I had apologized they told me life happens and we've all been there. I was super thankful for the grace they showed me and was surprised by what happened next. They placed an order for me anyways free of charge and it was my EXACT original order, not a single thing left out! I then Kim Kardashian cried in my car while shoving a sausage egg and cheese biscuit into my mouth LOL. I was no joke thanking the good Lord for taking care of me that morning because I was hungry and was on my way to work. So again I say these amazing women at this facility are just truly wonderful and I am thankful I had the opportunity to stop by and meet kind people in such a rough world today, honestly it was really refreshing. ❤ So I 100% will be back in the future with all 4 of my kids and husband to place an order with money in hand! Thank you again ladies I've not forgotten...
Read moreCould'nt believe I had a review of this place 2 years ago & the complexion of substandard work remained --- The review I wrote 2 years ago is at the bottom of my recent experience on June 13, 2020...
The reason I'm writing is not for the 2 women, 1 drive thru cashier & 1 of the manager's -- which was full of unnecessary attitude, unfocused, short, in appropriate, nasty & discarding the mission of McDonalds to give "ALL" customers exceptional service. Not just a certain look which happens with businesses not in constant review of employee interactions with any customer. They refused to serve because I was aware the 2 women were unfocused, unnacomadating, trying to engage an argument about a policy of McDonalds already understood. The fact I didnt 'like' it was no reason to want to attempt to make me acknowledge agree & accept, to change my Opinion?? or the way the 2 women thought about the policy. This had NOTHING TO DO WITH MY ORDER. Once I said it's a ridiculous policy. Just return to "FINISH" the "ORDER" for the Customer. SIMPLY. The visit was funky, low standard like coming to a ghetto drive thru window ---- Before a mature professional changed the atmosphere of trust with people handling my food, unnapreciated - low standard, unnapreciated and unaccommodating experience I had with the drive-through employees.
Devon gave patience, understanding & a willingness to resolve the issue with capability & sincerity to the value of Mcdonald's Customer and stakeholder. I changed my mind about the experience. That's why I come to Mcdonalds should never be opposite esp. with any managers called to return the vision quality and mission of McDonald's.
Review Written 2 Years Ago: Orders inconsistent, attitudes, so much money for the lower levels of customer appreciation. that...
