The Kickin' Chicken — Restaurant in Charleston

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience was too disappointing to ignore. My mom and I came in and sat at the bar, waiting patiently to be acknowledged. We were there for over 10 minutes with no greeting, no menu, no eye contact—nothing. The bartender/server completely ignored us, even after clearly seeing us.

What made it worse? He noticed someone else (likely a regular or friend) who walked in after us and immediately offered him a beer, skipping right over us like we weren’t even there.

It was unprofessional and flat-out rude. We ended up leaving, just like another group of women did when we arrived—saying, “We’re just going to leave,” which should’ve been our sign.

If you value customer service or even basic human decency, I wouldn’t recommend this...

I had an incredibly disappointing and upsetting experience at this restaurant. As a Black customer, I felt completely ignored and disrespected. My group was not acknowledged when we walked in, and it was clear we were not being treated the same as others around us. After a long wait with no service, they pulled someone from the back who clearly wasn’t a server to finally take our order, which felt like a last-minute attempt to check a box rather than provide hospitality. It was clear we were not welcome, and the lack of professionalism and blatant racial bias was deeply hurtful. No one should have to feel this way when simply trying to enjoy a meal. I hope this business seriously reflects on its staff training...

It’s usually very good and you can get some sweet potato waffle fries that are my fav. I went on a Sunday recently and NFL football was on and in there defense I think they were just swamped and people were buying a lot of beer. I struggled to get the attention of a server, they wanted me to open a tab despite not drinking, I got an order in. Had to waive down a waitress to get a refill and finally I had to struggle to get the check and I was out. Not a typical experience, I had much better service in the past at this location. I think it was football and beer that really fouled up the experience this time. So give this place a shot, just be mindful of what time you are going...
