I've only been once but will be back again!!!
The 7th St. NY Deli sits at the corner of (you guessed it) 7th St. and Hawthorne. It's a relatively busy intersection, and the Deli shares the location with a few other businesses that generate lunchtime traffic, notably Sabor and the UPS Store, so parking can get tight at peak hours. That said, the food is definitely worth it.
The menu is rather extensive, offering ~20 sandwiches, with plenty of the classics you would expect from a NY style deli, such as the Club, Italian, Chicken Salad, Reuben, Cheese Steak, etc. They also offer Halal gyros and bowls. For today's visit I got the Queen City Sandwich (pastrami, swiss, sauteed onions, and 1000 Island) on sourdough. The portion size was hearty, but not overly so, and the taste? Wow! The pastrami was very flavorful and not too salty, and the cheese had excellent pull factor (see the pic!). The sourdough was soft and I suspect fresh baked that day. All in, one of the best sandwiches I've had in town, and I'm excited to try the rest of the menu.
Besides the sandwiches mentioned above, the deli does have a cooler with various salads (potato salad, pasta salad, etc.) along with some middle east staples such as baba ghanoush, which the owner(?) was kind enough to give me a sample! It was also wonderful BTW.
Did I also mention the Deli has a large breakfast offering of various sandwiches and platters, along with a formidable coffee selection? I'll definitely be returning to try these as well
Finally, the location is extremely clean and well laid out. Ordering is straightforward, simply place the order at register and they call your name when the food is ready.
All in, I'm happy to finally have a solid deli option in this city. It was a notable void in the area and the Deli is a...
Read moreFinally checked this place out with my husband after driving by almost everyday & so glad we did! This is the perfect corner store deli! Just the right amount of snacks, pretty much every non-alcoholic beverage imaginable, and a very large deli menu to choose from. We picked out some sides, bagels & a chicken parm sandwich…It all hit the spot, so good! Most importantly, we had the best customer service! As we were waiting for our order, they offered us 2 slices of freshly made in house carrot cake! That just so happens to be my favorite! That was so kind & sweet of them, it made my day. I honestly would have been happy with anything, but no exaggeration it was the best carrot cake I’ve had! The perfect ratio of toasted walnuts and carrots, very soft, topped with a drizzle of icing, but not overly sweet. So delicious! That’s one way to keep a customer, we’ll be back very soon! Good vibes...
Read moreThis place WAS a staple in Charlotte for many years and appeared to close down. I noticed they recently reopened and stopped in. I was informed today the original owners retired. Unfortunately, the prices are astronomical and the food is subpar at best. One Tea, One Chip and two sandwiches (Reuben and turkey club) over $30!! That is insane even for the city and food inflation. I wanted to love it like I use to, but I foresee this establishment placing themselves out of business very quickly. The staff was nice, but seemed to inadequately take my order as I was under impression when I paid the $30+ that included the additional drink and chip that I asked for. When I went to apply the chips to my sandwich bag the staff gave me I was advised that the $30.00 was just for one "combo" and a sandwich. UNREAL... I will not be back. Better options around, better food and more...
