These people are disgusting. Words really can’t explain how I feel about them denying me for being homeless from being in a fatal accident. I was in this program years ago, back when COVID started and people were losing their jobs. I was affected and fleeing from an abusive environment while living with family and raising a young baby. They accepted me, and I was grateful and I learned a lot.
After graduating from the program, I got into an accident and wasn’t able to finish school, which had been my plan the entire time I was in the program. Fast forward to now: I got myself into a bad relationship, fled, and was recently involved in another accident this time, nearly fatal to the point where I can’t walk and lost everything. I decided to reach out to Charlotte Family Housing and was denied due to “previous program participation and lack of progress in the program.” (As they stated in the distasteful email they sent out)
That’s odd because I kept a job throughout the entire program and made progress by going to school, so I could eventually earn over $100K a year. My accidents weren’t something I could control, and they happened after the program. Me not finishing school wasn’t something they even knew about because I was no longer in the program at that time, so I don’t understand how they determined a “lack of progress.”
This organization is a failure and doesn’t uphold the values and beliefs they claim to stand by. I’m thankful that I trust in God and have strong faith that everything will work out for me, no matter what, but for someone who has nothing it will be difficult for them and people need to shed light on the places and the way they are doing people who are truly are in need. I have no words and will...
Read moreI read the reviews before I applied but when you’re facing homeless with a child anything is better than being on the street. Please be advised there are multiple levels to this program. Get in great detail which program your in. Some are 1 year and some are more. I wasn’t informed that my program was 1 year until May 2022. My lease ends September 2022. My social worker called me in May informed me how the program failed me and quit the same day. I received an email from Patrice Williams the director informing me of the changes. I was informed “they would work with me to renew my lease”. I met all requirements but a financial literacy course. This course is only offered once a month but it’s a requirement. I missed the course in June and was told I couldn’t take the next course July 10th because it’s too close to September. I reached out to Pedro Perez he was very cold and heartless. Every waitlist for housing in Charlotte is 2 -3 years. In September I will be homeless and this organization that brags about how the combat homelessness in the Charlotte Area only care about their own financial gain. This organization should be re-evaluated immediately. Donors and partners should reach out too all clients to gain updated accurate information. Where is the...
Read moreThey are not very friendly nor inviting I understand that you have to be strict nowadays but under certain circumstances you should also lend a open ear your housing homeless ppl for Christ sake if they could get out there and get housing on their own they wouldn’t need to come to that establishment to seek housing needs. black and white always makes a person look worst as does a conversation over the phone could be misconstrued as well. Rather then if you spoke to a person face to face to understand and look into a persons eyes to see the true person for who they are I understand they deal with a lot of people but in that type of business that’s kinda the deal being personable and kind and understanding which I think all of the...
