My best friend and I went Battle of the Bands. No organization whatsoever. Nothing on the websites regarding bags and large purses, no umbrellas, and no vapes. A LOT of people were automatically turned away for that reason. Event was supposed begin at 4:00 p.m. however the gates did not open till 4:30 to 4:45. We stood in the hot blazing sun for over an hour waiting for the gates to open... People started passing out from the heat of the sun. When we found out criteria for actually going into the stadium we had to leave because we had an umbrella and a lunch box and a vape. At that point we were so exhausted we decided to leave because it was so hot and our stomachs were turning from nausea. This event was probably one of the worst and un-organized events I have ever not went to. Like I said we ended up leaving the event without even watching any of the bands. In which we drove over 3 hours to see. We will be in the process in getting refunds for our tickets hopefully. If they have another event like this I sure hope they do a better job next time. In the picture below, it shows the line of people that had extended all the way down into the City and wrapping around buildings. And these were people still standing to get in an hour later after we finally got back to the car and rested from heat exhaustion. I only gave this a one-star rating because they didn't give negative star ratings to hit. Honestly I would have given it probably a negative 100 star rating.

My husband and I went to watch Spain and the USA play in a rugby game...I haven't been to this place in years. Since then, it has been rebuilt and refurbished. It is a very nice facility: parking garage is close, large bathrooms, multiple concession areas, and vendors are available. Check the bag rules and regulations...especially if you have little ones. They enforce the rules. Also, if lightning is too close, you must evacuate the property and each lightning strike is a 30 minute wait.

Appears to be recently renovated or rebuilt so it is very clean. Nice view of the downtown from one side of the stadium. Concessions are limited to four stations in the park and lines were incredibly long during a Chaos PLL game when only about 1/3 of the seats were full. Long lines made walking the concourse difficult. Prices for concessions seemed reasonable. Limited shade so day time events are incredibly hot. Parking is next door in the garage but is expensive and very tight.

Viewers, what I am about to say doesn’t come off racist Today, on September 01, 2024 supposedly to be the enjoyable moment for all people ! However, in my experience usually it is 95% African American occupants. The occasion was the HBCU Battle of the Bands ! Many Universities and people I meet travel such a distance to get to Charlotte NC for this historical event. What an unprofessional plan event without a back - up plan due to an act of God ! In my opinion, if the race was different this would not have happened! People were sent away from the stadium aka Grady Cole Center. The parking was $15.00 and when they decided to delay the performance due to the thunderstorm , rain and lightning. I couldn’t believe these employees still were allowing people to continue park and take money. If these planners would have used a little common sense the venue should’ve been called off and rescheduled for a later date for the safety of the people . As I stood there observing, I went up to two of the venue workers to call a supervisor for me he inadvertently ignored me and I asked him again . The reason for is I wanted a refund in which he didn’t give me back as I asked him . When he knew I was serious and wasn’t going away he made the call to the supervisor and the response was to call my Bank and cancel. Now, cash paying consumers where getting their money refunded. Ultimately, CC payments was handled differently. Next , my attention was directed toward a Policeman as I spoke about this unfortunate situation. People were being told including myself that the Battle of the Bands would start within 1-2 hours. Now , the normal time was 6:30 pm . My love one informed us who was a band member that they were ordered to leave the stadium and return back to their buses. I just can’t comprehend why they just didn’t call the event off much earlier. They knew the weather was going to be terrible and life threatening maybe to someone. As a result, I will reach out to the college and see if I can find out the truth into what happened and why ??? They were using Central Piedmont students parking lots.Evidently, there was some sort of agreement in space to use the lots .My daughter who is a former graduate student purchased 13 tickets for the event and will pursue a refund. I know they will not want to give all these ticket holders refunds. However, they have no alternative ,or choice “ It’s GOD ‘s weather something that nobody can control!” My hope is that they go forward with another project plan and date for the future. People were discouraged and so disappointed. I think this should be broadcasted in the news media.for a complete explanation . Someone should be accountable as a responsibility to the people. Finally.again in my opinion to much money was made through ticket sales. If they just would have only cancelled days before then people would understand . They whether tell untrue statements instead of telling the truth and facts to what really went on .😤😫. SHAME ON ALL...

I attended a Rugby game this evening, and was very disappointed with the security checking bags. In the 5 minutes I was walking in, I saw 3 different families get turned away for having diaper bags. Each family had a child under the age of 1, and a small diaper bag. The website states that exceptions to the bag policy are made for those families with children. If this is not the case, the website needs to be updated, and the management needs to understand they will have no families present for future events. Very disappointing and those families turned away are owed an apology. I hope this is addressed...
